Christmas/Hanukah presents
 

When you were a kid (ages 2-10) what was the best present you received for Hanukah or Christmas ?

When I was 6 I got a tricycle .

Actually the one I remember most was a (probably very cheap) set of miniature Disney figures. My Daddy actually taught me to play chess using the figurines as chess pieces ... the Seven Dwarves (and somebody else, Pinocchio maybe?) were the pawns, Snow White the queen, Mickey the king of course, and so on.

As a parent I tried to remember that, and stay away from the fancy and expensive gifts for our daughter and try to buy things that would stretch her mind and her imagination.

One year we went to New Hampshire for Christmas.....When we woke up, under the tree, was the train set I wanted.....The best gift ever, went to my cousin Steven..I got a doll.....:(

I remember being 5 and so badly wanting a Chatty Cathy doll. I got one!
Guess I'm showing my age.....

Between the ages of 2-10, I did not get any Christmas presents. None of the other kids did either. We did not even know about presents.
I came to the US when I was 11 years old, and that is when I got my first Christmas presents.
To this day presents never were a big deal for me.

Your age - we bought one for our daughter. Now that is age. Wish we still had the doll - loved her glasses!!

The legendary presents in our family were not Christmas presents but toys passed to us by the children whose families were emigrating to Australia.

Mine was a massive doll's house when I was 4; I was never in to dolls but a doll's house - wow.
My younger brother received a large train set.
However I loved playing with my older brothers' Meccano set.
