Default A Sad Day in Chicago Cubs Nation

Chicago Cubs great 3rd baseman and later radio announcer Ron Santo has passed away. Ron Santo was 70 when he finally succombed to bladder cancer and his life long struggle with type 1 diabetes.

Ron Santo will be in the hearts and souls of die hard Cubs fans everywhere. One of the greatest 3rd baseman to ever play the game of baseball, and a long time Cubs radio broadcaster, he was the most passionate Cubs fan of all.

Ron Santo was also a champion of Diabetes research and used his celebrity to raise millions of dollars for diabetes research with JDRF.

Rest in Peace Ron Santo, you will be missed.

I use to groom Ronís horse Third Base back in 1976. I still see his wife Vicky from time to time at horse shows. Ron Santo was the ultimate Cub, he will be dearly missed.

Henry,
I'm with you, I hope they do that. Just a shame he wasn't in the hall of fame while alive.

Donna :

A lot of well deserving people belong in the HOF .Conversely ,in my opinion ,several who do not belong are there .
