Default Your top 10 List..

In all your travels around the globe, if you had to compile a list of, "I am so glad I saw, or, did this"..what would be on this list? Some lucky cruisers will have quite a long list, others, beginners, will have a shorter list, but, your list, could help them with good ideas, to make their list grow....

Edited to change the word, cruisers...make it travelers...why limit ourselves

Having only cruised 3 1/2 times ,I shall endeavor to come up with 10:

1) Martinique ,a truly beautiful place
2)St.Maarten -being on a private beach where nothing was taboo
3)Juneau, Alaska -visiting the home of an author and his wife ,a poetess
4) Bermuda -every inch of it
5) Halifax ,NS
6)Yarmouth ,NS
7)Panning for gold in Alaska and achieving the most of any prospector of that day
8) Barbados -visiting one of the oldest synagogues in the world
9) Hitch hiking in Bermuda and being picked up by an infamous political person
10)Being at a club in Bermuda listening to a native singer only to find out that in reality he was native to New Jersey .

Your subject line asks for the Top Ten, so I'll limit it to that -- which, after 27 cruises, won't be easy.

1. Consecutive Days "AT SEA" on Two "Transatlantic" Cruises and on "Hawai'i" Cruise (Round Trip from Los Angeles).

2. "Grandview Rail Transfer" from Seward to Anchorage on Alaska Railroad.

3. White Pass & Yukon Route (WP&YR) from Skagway, AK, to Summit Lake, VR.

4. Ruins of Ancient Ephesus, Mary's Home, and Ruins of Basilica of St. John in Ephesus, Turkey.

5. USS Arizona Memorial and USS Missouri in Pearl Harbor, HI.

6. Performance of Two Short Ballets (First Traditional, Second Contemporary) at Newly Restored Opera House in Odessa, Ukraine (included in tour of city).

7. Church of St. Marie Antoinette in Rouen, France.

8. Excursion in Glass Bottom Boat to Los Arcos (aka "Land's End") in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

9. Polynesian Cultural Show at Tahiti Beachcomber Intercontinental Resort (during post-cruise stay).

10. Visit to Venetian Glass Factory in Venice, Italy.

Norm.

They are on my list as well.

But most of the interesting places that I have seen were on land vacations.

Cruising can be good for a 'quick look' but the great world sites deserve some time. I think all ten of mine would also be land based travel. At least all I have thought of so far....

While thinking about it I realize that I am blessed as one of my top ten is right on my own patio. I have a beautiful view of the (always green) Texas Hill country, Lots of Wildlife-especially trophy deer, Birds, Livestock, Wildflowers in season, and more.

Thanks Trip...good thoughts.
