Default Kindles and iPads, and Books, OH My

I thought it was rather boring until he got to the eyepoping part. Usually in his books, the story takes off flying. Young son is REALLY spoiled. If that's the way life is for the super rich, I am truly envious!

There is now a newer Grisham novel available and another in a few weeks. Anyone read any of these latest ones, need a back up for cruise in a week?? I still have half of the "Help", and if I finish that one before I leave or soon after, I need something else?

I'd never be able to save The Help!

Sorry, I don't know what to tell you to take with you though.

I just finished a trilogy by Suzanne Collins that my daughter had me read. All I can say is wow. The first book in the series is called The Hunger Games and is coming out next Spring as a movie. The books are published by Scholastic for young adults. It's no secret that a lot of the best fantasy that comes out is for kids or young adults. What blew my mind is just how "adult" these books are. I wasn't suprised to find out it had a lot of people in an uproar the year it came out wanting it banned. I don't believe in banning books, but I can see why this one would be a trigger to fainthearted parents. I'm sure there will be a big uproar when the movie comes out. Honestly, I would not want a tween reading the books or seeing the movie myself. As for the books themselves, they are well written. While a work of fiction, sci fi/fantasy at that, the story is told in such a humane, honest way that you get a sense of that it's like to live with trauma and oppression. That's my take, anyway.

My husband told me this morning,he preordered the new Kindlsde Fire for Christmas. It will come after Thanksgiving.

It will be interesting to see if it will be a keeper,as I am so used to what I have. If the learning curve is too tough, it will go back I guess

Got my back-up kindle book today, the 3rd in the Richard Castle series, "Heat Rises"....I missed the second, but the first was written well enough that I think I will be glued to this one as well. Still have more than half of the Help to finish, but if I get a lot of reading time next week, will have this one to start.

Anyone here watch "Castle" on monday night? Good show...

I was at a kindle forum, and the question was ask..what was just a wow book for you...I would add, an unforgettable book? What is yours?

My 2nd son was born, in 1972, while in the hospital.I read a magazine that
had a book review of....http://www.amazon.com/Will-There-Rea...g/dp/044019292

Frances Farmer was a movie star in the 40/50's and had a tough life, and a tough mother.

Once home, I ran to the library, and with a new baby in my arms, and, a book in my hand I read this amazing biography.

So, 39 years later, I say, this is a book I never forgot..what this woman went through. It's not a free book, or a cheap one, but, worth every penny for a walk through her liife.

I have a funny story to tell. I was offered a Kindle every holiday, birthday, etc since they came out. I turned it down, because as a long time reader, I couldn't even thing of not having that book in my hand.

A year ago last may, Jim and I were traveling, and I sat next to a woman with a Kindle. I had a book in my hand, and one in my purse, because I was about to finish one, and didn't want to not have something to read on that long flight. Since we would be gone for several weeks, I also had many books in my suitecase. This woman started showing me her Kindle. I had a suitecase full, and she had more than I did, and could get everything in her purse.

I came home, and ordered one, and never looked back.

Last week, someone gave me a paperback. I started reading it about an hour ago, and realized the print was to small, it felt funny, and was hard to keep open.

I am about to order the same book on my Kindle.

By the way, I finished the "Killing of Abramham Lincoln " last night. Wonderful book, with many details that I didn't know, and I have read many on the subject. Author is Bill OReily.

Trip, I read Will There Really Be A Morning many, many years ago. Too many years for me to remember that much detail, other than it was horrible what happen to that poor woman.

Luanne, I have yet to make the jump.

Does anyone subscribe to Amazon Prime, their own lending library & do you like it? It's $79.00 a year. I got an email from one of the Kindle sites, and it mentioned how to get a reduced or free subscription, thei got an email recanting it. I was confused to say the least

Anyone besides Luanne and myself waiting for the Kindle Fire this week? I already purchased a cover for it, because I want that book feeling...If I don't love it right away, I will learn to! I am not returning it,and will transfer all my books over asap. I want it now!!

Hmm, I'm still working with the real thing here, so I guess I am really ancient. Maybe someone will get me one of these new fires for Christmas. Hope you and Luanne enjoy yours when you get them.

Default Kindles and iPads and Books, Oh My

If I order a Kindle Fire as a Christmas gift for my DH, can we read one book on both the Fire and the Kindle, or do we have to order a book for each one?

Can I share content with other Kindles?

You can enjoy your Kindle content on Kindle devices or Kindle applications that are registered to your Amazon.com account. There may be limits on the number of devices (usually six) that can simultaneously use a single book. Subscriptions to newspapers or periodicals cannot be shared on multiple devices. You can see all your Kindle content and send downloads to your registered Kindles or Kindle applications from Your Kindle Library through Manage Your Kindle.

To any of my kindle pals...when I figure out how to loan books I would be willing to do that, especially for best sellers. I am trying to really get the most out of this new Fire. I loaded a game yesterday, and darn if I can find it! Talk about feeeling silly

I tried finding it on apps, and its not on the bookshelf...where oh where, is my little hidden object game?

The screen on the Fire, for me, is 1000 times easier to read then my old one. I am a happy fire dancer!

Keith expects to get his Kindle Fire today! As predicted, his son tried to talk him into an iPad yesterday.
