Have you actually downloaded any of the books onto the Fire? I know they show up on the carousel, but that's all of your books from the cloud. There aren't actually any books on your device unless you've downloaded them by either (1) touching the icon on the Fire until the menu comes up and choosing Download or (2) going to Manage Your Kindle, clicking on Action, and then telling it to Deliver to your Fire. Then they should show up under your Device view.

Clear as mud??

No, it sure doesn't! Even keeping the wireless off most of the time, it doesn't seem to last a whole day. And I thought my cell phone was bad.

Ya know, I always blame myself, when things go awry. Last night the new book I ordered was not on my bookshelf, where it should be, as happened when I ordered my first book..that was there instantly.

So I opened it just now,and voila, there it was, I tapped and it downloaded!

I think we should notate here, how long we think the Fire holds it's charge to compare. What happens to it,when you think its losing it? Just slows or, poof?

The book I ordered was a funny mystery.Monkey Soup Boogie .99 cents. Linda I hear you, too many crossovers can be a waste.but wait Fire 2 maybe just around the corner

Default Kindles and iPads and Books, Oh My

Keith finally got his Kindle Fire today. He's busy learning it, and says that it feels slippery. Maybe a cover should find its way under the Christmas tree. We'll see . . .

With the Fire, I can't imagine using it withour a cover..maybe I just became used to my other one that had a cover..so I can hold it like a book...and it's heavier too..I just ordered a stylus for it.

Amazon.com: In Original COSMOS Packaging - 3 pcs Aqua Blue/Black/Red Stylus/styli Touch Screen Cellphone Tablet Pen for iPhone 4 4s 3 3Gs iPod Touch iPad 2 Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy, BlackBerry Playbook AMM0101US + Cosmos BRANDED Cable Tie: Cell

I just received those today. They seem to work just fine and the price was great! I also got this stand today, and it's really nice!

Amazon.com: Arkon Portable Fold-Up Stand for Apple iPad, Galaxy Tab, Kindle Fire, Playbook, Xoom, Toshiba, Acer, Nook and Other Tablets (IPM-TAB1): Cell Phones & Accessories

Works for landscape or portrait. I will use it with my Kindle Touch, too.

I use my Fire without a cover exclusively. Probably because I always used my Kindles without a cover. But I ordered a cover that can stand up to go with my son's Fire for Christmas.

I just rejoined another bookclub, and will get an entertainment book as part of the deal! Included in the stash, is my fave, Stuart Wood's new one, DC Dead!

On the View today, Patricia Cornwell, was on, with her new face! She mentioned, if all works out, they will finally be making a movie on the Kay Scarpetta books, and Anelina Jolie will play Kay..What do you think?

In the book club I could have selected her new one, Red Mist but I still have her last one to read.

Trip,

Which book club did you join?

I couldn't finish the last Kay book, because it was very badly written, in my opinion, so I am not sure I will buy the newest one.

Is DC dead newer than son of...?

Luanne, it was an email to rejoin the Literary Guild, with a free Entertainment book. Also, if I joined Freeshipping.com, for a free 30 days, I could get $15.00 off the shipping. It also allowed me to get to extra books, so all I have to buy, is two more.

I just returned Sue Grafton's new one to the library, I knew I wouldn't be able to start it,and focus, so I got it from the club instead.

Years ago, when I started to head her books..It was E I think, I came home from a cruise, and, read A~D and, was in heaven, so I wrote to her.
In the mail today I got my annual Christmas card, I swear she never changes, and she always sends along a little token when a new book comes out, this time I got a nice nail file.

I would love to see those books made into movies, but I wonder how well they will be compared to the books? I can see A.J. playing that part for sure.

I just said to Bruce, I think the Fire has to go in for an exchange. The charge on this is not lasting long. I have not been able to focus on the fire or books for the moment, and I have not paid too much attention to the charge, but it seems off...I am charging again, anbd marked down the time, so, we'll see
.
Donna, like with Stephanie Plum,[Katherine Heigel,] AJ seems a bit off to me.

I agree trip. I have to recharge once a day. It will be a real problem on a long flight. I have read where others are also complaining, so it's not just us.

Here's an update on Rick Murcer. I just finished "Capital Murder." According to his notes at the end of the book, "Caribbean Rain will be out by the end of Feb., 2012.

Anybody out there read "The Hunger Games?" Wow, oh Wow! Read it if you get the chance.

Yep, I've read The Hunger Games. There are two more books after it. Catching Fire and Mocking Jay are numbers two and three. The Hunger Games will be out as a movie in March. And, "Oh wow!" sums it up well. Great series. What blows my mind is that the books are published by Scholastic....yes, that's right. They are considered young adult. I think I've put that somewhere on this thread before.

Loved those books, and can't wait to see the movie.

Is anybody planning on seeing the new Girl With the Dragon Tattoo movie when it comes out later this month? Those were great books too.

Moraine, the movie is part of Stieg Larsen's trilogy. All really good books.

I recommend "My Life In The NYPD" by James "Jimmy the Wag" Wagner. It's now out of print but it has a fascinating part concerning the life and death of my wife's adored Niece Adelaide's husband. His name was Rocco Laurie.
