I just finished The Big Cat Nap. I agree it wasn't as preachy. Is it just me, or has Pewter gotten meaner in the last few books?

I am on the last couple of chapters of Unatural Acts, by Stuart Woods. He took a character in his series,[a nerd] and, gave him a 360 personality change. A bit jarring to a forever reader, and, so out of character..this doesn't thrill me.

Trip, I have it on my reader, but have not started it yet. I sure hope I won't be disappointed.

Moraine, I think Pewts never the nicest kitty, You know, that word beginning with a "B?"

Trip and Luanne, Unnatural Acts wasn't my favorite, either. But I do think the psychotic kid got his due.

To me, Unatural Acts was like a connector book, setting situations up for big changes. In real life, Elaine passed away last year, so he needed to deal with that, and this book set up lots if new scenarios for several characters. When she died, I emailed him my sympathy, because they were friends for years.I wondered how he would handle it, or in the world of fiction, pretend it never happened.I hope Stuart lives for many years, as I love his books..

Are the novels comparable to the TV show ?

That is how my Kindle has gotten so many books and also many at $.99. This way if I find after starting that I don't like the book I don't feel bad. And because of this I have found more authors that I do like.

Henry, as usual, the books are better. I've only seen the first two seasons of True Blood. The show adds plotlines and goes in directions the books don't. The show is also campier, too. The books have stuff the show leaves out, too. Also, you get more true flavor of the South and more real humor instead of camp. Just my opinion. I did not know where Charlaine Harris was from when I read the first few books. I thought she was probably from the North. I was reading and thinking that she really got Southern humor. When I looked her up I had to laugh. No wonder she got the humor!

I've not read any J.D. Robb. I've downloaded another Charlaine Harris book from a different series. I'm not sure when I'll start it.

Okay - I'm not searching the who thread, sorry.

What experience have you had trying to read a tablet on deck? This is where I teeter between a reader and tablet computer.

Kindles other than the Fire, can be read in bright sunlight. The Fire cannot. I brought both on my cruise. Other than reading outside, I would not go back to reading from my 1st Kindle.

My Ipad is ok outside, but not in sun, it has to be shade. I do most of my outside reading on my Sony Reader. I try and keep the same books on both so I can switch back and forth when needed.

I just finished "The Bourne Imperative." If anybody likes to read edge-of-your-seat books, I highly recommend this series. Robert Ludlum was prolific author but died in 2002 (I think). However, Erik VanLustbader took up the mantle and seems to be continuing the series. I am about to start "The Bourne Dominion" 2011.

I also really liked Curse of the Jade Lily" set in Minnesota.

I read Laurell K Hamilton's Kiss the Dead and was surprised that it wasn't totally terrible. It's been difficult for me to settle on anything the past week or so, although I have plenty to read.

Well, I have a basic Kindle and am happy with it. What about you, Trip? I think you've had some problems with your fire? I know Amazon has great service though.

So, what is everybody reading nowdays? I'm on the third Song of Ice and Fire book by Gerge R R Martin.

I think the issue with mine is it's on all day,and I use it like an IPad...and one day it worked, the next day, it will not power on...this has been the problem with each...I also find the charger port, does not hold the charger wire in securely.

I would like to actually see the new one before I make any decision.

I am reading Laura Levine's new one...Death of a Neighborhood Witch..I am waiting for Stuart Woods new on..I pre-ordered it, as well as Elaine Viets new one...

Moraine, did you read Rita Mae Brown's "Sneaky Pie for President?" What a rip-off!

I just started another David Housewright book.
