I put Rita Mae Brown's new Sister Jane book on my Christmas wish list, so I hope someone in my family will buy it for me. I'll buy it later if not.

I just finished Melissa Francis new book. She speaks very little about working on "Little House" but more about her relationship with her mom, and sister. It is very good, and well written.

For all you James Patterson fans out there, the "Private" series is really good. I just read "Private London" and have pre ordered "Private Berlin."

Oops, sorry! Here's the order:
Private 6-10
Private #1 Suspect 12-11
Private Games 2-12
Private London 12-12
Private Berlin 1-13

I haven't read them in order, and actually, I forgot about the series.

Default Thanks all! And another tip.

Hi all,

Wow, what an amazing thread for tips on the Kindle! I'm preparing for a cruise and was reading up on how to use it onboard and deciding what to download.

I just thought I'd mention to everyone to check their local library for ebooks before buying a title. I have access to a number of libraries and I've just found out they actually have a good selection of titles and it's really growing. I was happy to hear this, as I've always been a huge library fan. They do expire within a few weeks, so be sure to download them just before your trip.

Also, for those new to cruising with a Kindle and wondering how it all works, I found this article which helped me understand what things i need to know before I go. Happy Sailing (and reading)!

Kindle - the perfect cruise companion!

I just finished Fox Tracks by Rita Mae Brown. Good book. I like Sister Jane.

Before that I read the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning. If you've not read this series you might enjoy it, Judy. It' paranormal romance. It's not the best in the field as it takes five books for the two people to get together... but I've read worse. If you're going down the paranormal romance road Shana Abe is a good bet and Jeaniene Frost is the best of the bunch IMO. AND I can't believe I'm talking about romance books.

I just finished "Merry Christmas Alex Cross" James Patterson. I was disappointed. It was like 2 short stories, and seemed rushed. Has anyone else read it?

Luanne, I agree re "Merry Christmas Alex Cross."

I received J.K. Rowling's "A Casual Vacancy" for Christmas. It's patchy: sometimes funny, mostly boring. I guess it doesn't move fast enough for me.
Anybody else read it out there?

Judy

Enjoy, Judy. Shana Abe's paranormal series starts with The Smoke Thief. She was a straight up romance writer before that. I've not read those books. It's bad enough I sometimes stray into paranormal romance...I'd not be caught dead with the regular stuff.

Recently I've enjoyed Cayr Ariel Wolff's books about her life with her life partner and their dog's and cat's. One is Born Without A Tail , another is Circling the Waggins.

Judy, I am now reading "Private" another Patterson book that you suggested. This is the one that takes place in London. So far, it is very good.

The last Wheel of Time book comes out soon and I don't want to be in the middle of a series when it does, so I'm sort of at a loss of what to read at the moment.

So my ereading friends how do devices like iPads and Kindle Fire work on deck? I got a 7" Fire for Christmas and haven't decided whether I will keep it or up/downgrade.

{I know this may have been answered previously in the thread and I didn't search all pages}

You might want to consider getting the Paperwhite. The Fire is not the one be read in direct sun. Go to amazoon.com's front page for comparisons.

check out this forum for friendly help.
