Trip, Wouldn't you like to read it? I would buy it, and make the author money, if I knew the name of it.

I told you Luanne that I posted the name of the book and it was removed because the thought was that I was trying to sell the book whereas I was offering free copies .

I sent a copy to Todd ,a copy to "Venice" ,gave a copy to Manuel and gave a copy to a former CM person named Tom .

You have yourself blocked from from getting IM's .

My book was published in 1988 and has been out of print since 1992 . There is only one copy currently available and is being sold by a rare book dealer in NY for $27.00 .I cannot in good conscience allow anyone from CM to purchase it at that price .Sometime later this year or in 2014 I will at my own expense have copies made and offer free copies to anyone who might want a copy as I did in 2010-2011 .

I didn't know I had blocked anyone. I will go and check that, and make sure it is unblocked.

I have found a copy, and as soon as it gets here, I will read it.

Laker, I just checked, and it isn't blocked, but it doesn't matter now. I know all about your "Book" and what it's about.

I really wish you had not drawn this whole thing out. You made it all sound so mysterious, and it isn't.

Laker, I just thought some more about your collection of short stories.

Instead of making copies, why don't you get in touch with Amazon. I have a friend who also self publishes, and he made a deal with them to have his work down loaded. You might not even want the money you make, but it would be great to donate it to charity. By the way, I was told that your stories are pretty good.

My book ,Luanne is short stories and poetry .My writing has appeared in the New Yorker Magazine ,New York Magazine ,Brooklyn Bridge ,and numerous other publications .My plays have been presented Off Broadway in Manhattan .My poetry has appeared in publications all over the USA as well as on CD's .I write solely for pleasure ,mine and for others . I normally do not self-publish ,that was only that one time .I prefer Small presses . I previously listed author friends of mine who primarily write novels .
I inadvertantly omitted my friend Joan C .Hand who is a brilliant poet.I urge everyone who is a fan of literature to read their writings as well as every other author around today .

Default Reading Any Good Books Lately?

I realize I have been absent from this board for awhile, but I missed the thread where we exchange recommendations for books to take on our cruise to read

Bending Towards Justice by Gary May..the history of how the 1965 Voting Rights Act came about...very timely in light of the recent Supreme Court decision and the role of how Chief Justice John Roberts achieved in that ruling what he tried to do when he work in the Justice Department in the 80's...fascinating read

After watching a segment on 60 minutes, I purchased The Good Nurse by Charles Graeber, about a mass murderer...incredible how he got away with it for so long

Divided We Fail by Sarah Garland...the Supreme Court ruled on the 2007 Louisville School desegration case that ended "separate but equal" doctrine (and I thought that's what 1954 Brown vs Board of Education did)

What are you reading these days?

I mentioned these on another string when I got them, but now I've finished them. . .two books by two friends. . .

Bob Dotson's American Story

Dan Stashower's The Hour of Peril: The Plot to Kill Lincoln Before the Civil War

Bob's book brings 40 years of reporting on everyday Americans vividly to life. Dan's book is non-fiction but reads like a good crime novel.

Both were great deck reading.

If you are in to mysteries I will suggest Three Can Keep A Secret by Archer Mayor .
If Romance is your thing then I offer Shades Of Jade by Gloria Mallette.

I am currently reading Affliction by Laurell K. Hamilton. Although the last two Anita Blake books were duds, she seems to be back in the swing of things. I read five Tanya Huff books before this. I don't know what I'll get into after. I left the serious stuff behind about ten years ago. I usually read fantasy now.

Are you a one genre reader, or do you like a wide range of books?

Cozy
biographys
non fiction
mystery
sci fi
romance

Do you follow an author, and read every book they write? It's interesting to follow some authors on FB..you get a more personal up close look at how they work, and take a peek into their lives.

I follow several authors, and are friends with several as well One friended me, I think in error, but it turns out this interesting author, Eugenia O'Neal, lives in Tortola, and I became a fan..I am now,and have been for years , basically a mystery/fiction fan. I will read any book written, by Stuart Woods, Elaine Viets, Nancy Cohen, Rick Murcer,& Sue Grafton, just to name a few.

How about you?

I do follow certain authors. At this point in my life I usually stick to the different sub groups of fantasy/sci fi and and I do read some mystery. Once in a while I read something else but it's pretty rare at this point. Before Harry Potter I was a non fiction and high brow fiction kind of person. Funny how things change.

Has anyone read the Harry Potter author's new book? I know she used a different name as her own.

I've not read it, Luanne. I've not read the one that she wrote under her name, either. It's difficult for me to wrap my head around her writing anything but Harry Potter. I feel bad for her because there are plenty of people like me. The woman is branded.

I do want to read her new book, especially because it is not about Harry Potter....should be interesting to read her writing something totally different.
