Default Happy Meals the villian here?

McDonald's Sued Over Happy Meal Toys

I saw this woman on tv this morning, and she absolutely takes no resonsibility for the fact that she cannot say NO to her kids, when they ask for McDonalds. Let her have a glass of whine, with some chicken nuggets.

What do you think about this lawsuit?

I don't see a need for that lawsuit at all. Each parent has a responsibility to raise their kids and teach them right from wrong.
The parents need to have a backbone and decide what to feed their kids.

We live in a society of blame everyone else. People need to be responsible for their choices. I say slap her!

Don't forget the lady who sued because she spilled hot coffee on herself and received a substantial award (I think by a jury). Nothing surprises me anymore.

I just saw the video on the news.

Ok who is the adult here? If she can't say no to her daughter at 6 years old, I dread to think what will happen when she is older and asking for much more than a happy meal!!!!

Grow up lady, you are the Mom, your word is the law. If your daughter doesn't like it then tough!!!!!

I can imagine what that girl will be like when she gets older, if she is like this at 6?? What is with her mom, I think there are many parents out there that just don't know how to say "no", and mean it....

What bothers me is the loss of common sense. Most of us still say to ourselves, "How would this make me look" That concept seems to be gone forever from the newer generations.

But, Guess what. She is hurting each of us that like to go to Mc D's. She will get her money, and then they will make it up by charging us more, so it is us that will pay.

If someone wants to slap her, I will hold her for you.

The most annoying part of that story is she lives in near my town. She is in Sacramento. What a nut job.

I am afraid we will see more, and more of this type of thing. Use to, people worked hard in order to make money, now they just call a lawyer.

What do you think about this lawsuit?
If I were the judge, I would (1) dismiss the suit for lack of merit, (2) award the plaintiff's attorney thirty days for Contempt of Court for wasting the Court's time and resources by bringing such a frivolous case, and (3) refer the matter to the Department of Youth Services (DYS), or equivalent, to evaluate the fitness of the plaintiff to be a parent.

If a few judges would handle absurd lawsuits in that way, we would see a lot fewer such cases!

Norm.

If you were to read the details of that lawsuit you would change your mind. Most people do not know what the case entailed and why the lady was awarded the money. It was a punitive award by the jury.

I encourage anyone to learn the merits of this suit to understand why Stella Liebeck was awarded the money. In fact, she was only suing for the hospital charges but after hearing the case the jury awarded her punitive damages as well. Which was later reduced 80% by a post-verdict trial.

Regards,
Thomas

So, because she doesn't have the backbone to say NO to a SIX YEAR OLD, she has to sue?????? Luanne, keep holding her because after Donna is done, I am next in line!

I pity her child. I pity the mother because she has no clue what she will be unleashing on the rest of us once she grows up. Grow a pair lady, before it is too late to save your child.

Is it me, or the people today blame everyone else for their problems?
As far as I am concerned we all need to take responsiblities for our own actions.
