1000 blackbirds fall dead..

1000 redwinged blackbirds fall dead from the sky, New Years Eve in Arkansas. How weird is that??? Anybody reading the new Stephen King book "The Dome"? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm:confused:

Travelnut January 2nd, 2011 07:18 PM

No Stephen King for me thank you,,,,my nerves just won't take it :shock::shock:

katlady January 2nd, 2011 07:36 PM

wow that is freaky. Arkansas officials stumped as birds fall from sky | Reuters

Aerogirl January 2nd, 2011 07:51 PM

WOW! That’s very creepy yet very sad. I wonder what could have happened.

Manuel January 2nd, 2011 08:46 PM

If this had happened when I was a kid, they would have blamed the Communists.

TM

Lakers Fan January 2nd, 2011 08:51 PM

Manuel , now the Muslims will be blamed .

Manuel January 2nd, 2011 08:54 PM

It is easier to blame someone than it is to solve the problem.

So very true ,Manuel .

Fern January 2nd, 2011 09:44 PM

We're about 20 miles from the area where the bird's fell. It IS very weird  . I've been watching a lot of post's and there are some
"reasonable" one's: Bird's were hit by lightning or hail.., or bird's were "shocked" by the firework's from NYE.
I have to say that I have NO idea what caused this. I'm just glad it didn't happen here...

Lakers Fan January 2nd, 2011 09:46 PM

Its a conspiracy ,Fern

hez January 2nd, 2011 10:37 PM

I don't understand why this isn't garnering more attention, although it did make it to the news here in Montreal. You'd think it would be a bigger news story..i mean REALLY, has this kind of thing ever happened before? 1000 birds,,that's a lot of birds! Maybe it is a conspiracy or a cover up.. mwaaa haa haa

hez January 2nd, 2011 10:42 PM

oh my. i just read the article and it was more like 4000-5000 birds instead of 1000! And the plot thickens..

Donna January 3rd, 2011 08:31 AM

Very odd and disturbing at the same time. I sure hope they can figure out what happened..

Luanne Russo January 3rd, 2011 10:32 AM

I also thought this was very disturbing. My first thought was the birds they always took into mines to test the air quality. I hope they discover the cause soon.

kandajones January 3rd, 2011 02:16 PM

Mystery deepens

A quality newspaper over here (in the UK) reports that this event was followed up bt 100,000 fish washing up along the river.

Arkansas mystery of dead birds and fish | World news | The Guardian

Can anyone local confirm that extension to the story?

thanks from a mystified Alan.

Lakers Fan January 3rd, 2011 02:58 PM

Yes ,the fish story was reported here (NY)

hez January 3rd, 2011 04:26 PM

Yikes!! Maybe something contaminating the water? The birds must drink out of the water too. I sure hope they find an explanation soon.

Luanne Russo January 3rd, 2011 04:38 PM

Only one type of fish was effected. If it had been the water, it would have killed many breeds.

They think the fish developed a virus. They are being tested at the lab, and we should know in a few days what it was.

The birds are also being tested.

I read that dead birds were also found in Louisiana today .

Mike M January 3rd, 2011 08:49 PM

Well, it's all supposed to end in 2012 anyway so I guess I better just blow the retirement fund and spend the rest of 2011 cruising in top of the line suites.

The bad part is that if it all doesn't end I'll be broke.......................but happy. :D

Take care,
Mike

There is a theory that the world as we know it has existed many times .We will never know for certain .

hez January 4th, 2011 07:54 PM

Yes, Henry43, 500 more birds dropped from the sky in Louisiana...so much for the fireworks theory huh?

Lakers Fan January 4th, 2011 08:03 PM

I think that we shall never truly find out the answer .It will be added to the hundreds if not thousand other occurences in this country over the past 150 years that remain a mystery .

hez January 4th, 2011 10:30 PM

well, i'm going with one theory i've read, that they are all hitting an invisible alien spaceship....

could be......

Kuki January 4th, 2011 10:49 PM

I read where someone said you could tell the Appocolypse was coming , because 5000 birds died, 100,000 fish died, and the Speaker of the House turned Orange.

Lakers Fan January 5th, 2011 11:51 AM

Alien spaceship

That is the most plausible explanation I've heard .

hez January 5th, 2011 12:43 PM

well, that's what I'm going with...nothing else makes sense. I just wonder why they picked Arkansas and Louisiana...i wish they would come here and take me away.

1500 birds in Maryland fell to earth today

Queen of Oakville January 5th, 2011 02:02 PM

Did anyone watch the show Flash Forward? This reminded me of that show (only it was black crows on the shows). Maybe now, it will get un-cancelled.
