Shampoo,skin cream ,etc .

On a local radio station today I heard that cruise lines are doing away with the mini bottles of shampoo, skin cream ,body lotion ,etc . Instead they are installing dispensers which will be affixed to the shower wall .

Well, that may be more enviormentally friendly and I was just thinking..How "green" is cruising?

belgique January 27th, 2011 11:12 PM

I had that on a cruise not long ago - don't remember what line - and it was just fine. The products were good (shampoo, conditioner, body wash) and no litle bottles to fall on the shower floor.....or those damn rip-open paper containers that you can never open! I'm all for it.

Celebrity has had that for quite a while ... a combination shampoo and conditioner on the wall of the shower - at least 3 years, I think.

Princess - on the other hand - has the little bottles (which I prefer) ... usually take some home with me.

The cruise lines are now very green.

Carnival has had those dispensers for quite some time now. At least since 2004.

Most of it is a waste of money to me.

Unless the cruise line supplies Elemis - which I will use; I bring Aveda with me.

:)

My last few cruises have had dispensers on the wall, but also some little bottled products as well. Usually I don't use them because I am so scent sensitive, but some are OK.
I agree though, that the dispensers are more "green" and make sense.

We always bring what we use, with us. Glad they are trying to go green.

I would prefer to use my own products .Just imagine if the cabin steward inadvertantly filled it wrong ,I could be shampooing with skin lotion.

suse January 28th, 2011 09:48 AM

If they're going green, good. Hope it's still Elemis on HAL.

I suspect that is because it is a UK brand - OK I'll take Aveda - now I know there are plenty of Aveda shops in NYC - I could even tell you where some of them are. Aveda is a very green brand.

It was on my HAL cruise last Sept - very pleasantly surprised.

Now that is two lines, I know, who supply Elemis - HAL and Azamara.

I'm not in NYC .I also never heard of Aveda but I am interested .

All aveda products are plant based - no chemicals.

Sent you a PM on Long Island location.

suse January 28th, 2011 11:50 AM

I like Aveda too, better than elemis. It's pricey but goes a long way.........
a big bar of soap lasts me a long time. The smell is heavenly, the mint one.

I agree - I love their shampoo and conditioner; expensive but they last a long time and they smell great. You get what you pay for.

I suspect too expensive for the cruise lines but some hotel chains stock them.
