$3.00 per gallon; I think it is the equivalent of almost $2.00 per litre here in the mainland UK.

Seriously though, times are a changing in North Africa. I know some UK operators have cancelled scheduled visits to Egypt.

I hope any CMs in that part of the world are safe.

I would stay away from Egypt for some time. Once turmoil starts, it's hard to stop.

In the event that they go on the trip:

Invest in a rental satellite phone for the trip. The gov't is blocking all cell and internet.

Look for visas needed to another country as a back up escape route.

Get the phone number & addresses of the US consulates in the area.

As much as I would love to see cities like Cairo and Alexandria, common sense tells me to wait until things are more safe and stable in Egypt. Past history has proven, when people are repressed, they will "rebel". This situation happened in eastern europe in the late 1980's when the Berlin Wall was hit by the people in east Berlin and west Berlin.

My son is a doctor with the state department stationed in Cairo. He called me yesterday and again today. He and his wife live in an area of Cairo where many other foreigners live that is far from the center of the city where all the protesters have been. He said that it is protected and quiet there at least so far. I heard on the news this evening that there are 50,000 US citizens in Egypt.

I doubt that the embassy is located in the area where all the protests are taking place, but I really don't know. He has been in his residence rather than the embassy the last two days. The embassy probably has some US military guards. Let's hope this thing gets over quickly.
