BREAKING wind could be outlawed in an African country – and it is already causing a stink.
The government of Malawi plan to punish persistent offenders “who foul the air” in an effort to “mould responsible and disciplined citizens”.
However, locals fear pinning responsibility for the crime on individuals will be difficult and may lead to miscarriages of justice.
One Malawian wrote on an African news website: “My goodness. What happens in a public place where a group is gathered? Do they lock up half a minibus?
“Also, children will openly deny having passed bad air and point at an elder. Culturally, this is very embarrassing.”
