If you would like to check out one person's unusual travels..check out An Idiot Abroad. Next Saturday, they are repeating 2 shows, and a new one..So far I have watched China, India, and, the new one is in Jordan.
This is not your Samantha Brown, or Anthony Bourdain travel show, but, a "normal" bloke, plunked down into the nitty gritty of the countries showcased. Hosted ny Ricky Gervais, you can understand how and why Karl, gets into situations, that will make you laugh out loud, and, say things we may all have thought.

We have to admit that we cannot stand Ricky Gervais and feel the show would have been a thousand times better without him winding Karl up, but we watched the series regardless. Israel does have one particularly 'sick' event staged, which we found to be quite offensive & possible upsetting to many - you will know it when you see it.
Petra seems to be a turning point for Karl and he makes some amazingly profound comments when waking up from his overnight stay. From that point on, he continues to view most of our shared thoughts, but seems to develop a far deeper understanding of cultural differences than he had in the first two locations.
As Trip said, the series is well worth watching, if only to see how many times you say to yourself "yes, I always thought that"
