Do You Remember Your First 45?

"Red Rubber Ball" by The Cyrkle, that was mine.
For some strange reason this song popped into my head last night and got me thinking about the first 45 I ever bought. I was about 8 or 9 yrs old and my family was spending a weekend in Burlington (VT) on a shopping trip.
I discovered for the first time, the record counter in a small dept. store and begged my parents to let me spend my allowance on a record, the Red Rubber Ball was the one!
When I think about it, my kids don't even know what a 45 is, they just download music....

Ticket to Ride by the Beatles - I think. Back then you could buy 45s in Grocery and Drug stores, and the people at the checkout counters would say "you like them boys what looks like girls?" and stuff like that.

Ooh Baby, Babyby Smokey Robinson and The Miracles (yea I know I'm old)...purchased the 45 for the very first girl that ever let me hold her tight for a slow dance at a party at the American Legion Hall (they turn the lights off)...still remember her and still have the 45 (her parents would not let her play it, so I kept it at my house)

My parents had an old crank-up Victrola and I think two 45's! One was Bing Crosby singing "Blue Hawaii." Can't remember what the other one was.

I got my first and only .45 when I was about 30. It was a Colt Mdl. 1911.

Oh wait a minute, you're talking about recordings! In that case mine was The Ballad of Thunder Road by Robert Mitchum.
