Superbowl ads
3 Million for thirty seconds of airtime for the Superbowl!! We all watch them whether it's during the game, or on the talk shows, when they highlight them..

But, honestly, do you really go out and buy the product,or service, because of an ad?

What was your favorite ad? Remember these? What'suuuuuuuuuuuuuuppp!!
The Budsweiser Frog? Gribbit!! Funny and heat tugging seems to always work well:)

I know they will have commercials with the Budweiser Clydesdales and 5 different car companies. I must admit, some of those commercials are pretty good.

I've never purchased anything advertised on TV solely based on the ads .

Why is it that the ads on Superbowl Sunday are so superior to ads the rest of the year ?

venice February 4th, 2011 11:35 PM

because advertisers know that it is the one time of the year that they can capture a worldwide audience in one sitting, and will spend an entire yearly advertising budget for one 30-90 second commercial..they also will pay a premium to have their commercial viewed in the 15 minutes before kickoff and before half time (the fear is if the game is a blow out by half time, no one will watch the 2nd half and post game)..the big winners are the companys that pay less to have their commericials shown in the 3rd and 4th quarter and benefit from a great game..last year's Super Bowl game with the Colts and Saints was the classic example

the day after, there is more talk about the commercials instead of the game, so yes, it is a goldmine and yes lots of folks hit the advertisers website right after the commercial is shown

it is a huge gamble because if the commercial sucks, it can cost the company big time and the ad company gets fired and loses accounts

only the fans in the cities that the teams represent really care about the game, but everybody looks forward to the commercials..don't think Fox cares just about the game..there will be an interview with POTUS Obama conducted by Bill O'Rilley(sp) which I'm sure will receive more post game analysis then the actual game

if the freeze continues thru Sunday, a record number of Americans will watch the game because they will be trapped in their homes..remember there was a huge snowstorm across the Country in the 70's when the TV mimi-series Roots premiered for the first 2 nights and viewers became hooked

my personal favorite Super Bowl ad was the Budweiser commercial where Cedric the Entertainer was trying to seduce a beautiful woman and he went to the kitchen to get 2 Buds and was so excited he shook up the beers and it sprayed in her face and he tried to dry her off with a hair 2nd favorite was the Doritos commercial when he would eat a chip and the woman's clothes came off, $$$$ came out of the ATM and he finished his bag and got hit by the 3rd was the Doritos commercial when the man was courting the single mom with a son and the son slapped him and said don't mess with my Mom or my Doritos

Sorry in's the Rose Bowl, the Orange Bowl and it's also the Super Bowl. a Superbowl is a Superb Owl, not a football game ;)

venice February 5th, 2011 06:06 AM

and sometimes the Super Bowl is not much of a football game:roll:

however you have suggested a great concept that you can submit for a future Doritos Super Bowl commercial playing on the pun of Super Bowl and Superb Owl..Kuki and Paul will finance the filming onboard the Carnival Dream:D

We in the UK will watch the game, advert free, on the BBC. That is if I can stay awake.:)

Without the commercials, most people would fall asleep.
