Morning Mates, although it's a late one. We woke up to no internet and no satellite TV but fortunately, the internet is back. I just thank goodness we still have power!
We had yet another storm last night, this time mostly ice pellets and freezing rain, but we also had a bit of snow this morning, and are supposed to get up to 15 cms throughout the day. And winter just drags on....
Yesterday was a beautiful day and we took the dog for a long walk along a groomed trail by the Pictou Harbour. It was windy and cold, but quite beautiful. Emma loved barking at the ducks in a little spot of unfrozen water.
Today will be house cleaning day for me, and then I will make a point of NOT watching the Super Bowl tonight. Never did like football of any kind, and all the hoopla is just over the top.
A good friend of ours though, who played Trivia with us last night, brought his Greenbay Packers Beenie Baby Bear along with him for good luck. The bear was doing sommersaults all over the table in anticipation of the touchdowns he hoped to see his team accomplish in the big game!
Wishing you all a great Super Bowl Sunday, and may your favourite team win!
I do watch the superbowl. Guess I am wierd because I just watch the game, do not watch the commercials or the halftime show. Not sure who I want to win, no fav this time.
Good morning everyone from a cool, but sunny Texas.
I saw the following on another thread yesterday, and I would like to say how sorry I am.
I hate it when people constantly spell words incorrectly!!! I hate listening to news reporters that constantly say "er, er, er" were they not taught in broadcast school to not do this. I definitely zone them out after a few "er's"
I hate it when former teachers cannot spell. How can you teach children to read, write and spell if you cannot do it yourself? How do you know who is right?
When you are on a health program ( spelt the American way when the right way is programme ) and you have to weigh yourself every morning , the word you need is "weigh" not "weight"
PLEASE check your spelling, applications etc, etc, before you post. It just makes you look foolish if you are posting incorrect spellings etc.
It seems this looks a lot like me, and I realize I have made many errors in my posts of late.
When I lost Joe, I lost everything I ever cared about. The one place I could come to was Cruisemates. I could be whatever I felt like that day, and most of you enclosed me in your arms, and held me tight. You let me cry, and you made me laugh. I will forever be thankful for all of your kindness, and love.
This post someone made is true, and I realize it now. I am a former teacher, because I found myself no longer able to teach. It is true that there is a difference between weigh and weight. It is also true that I have been using the wrong words. With my WEIGHT loss, I finally had something to be proud of. I love all of you and wanted to share my WEIGHT loss, and know that you cared about me, and was happy for me.
Now I find I am ashamed and that takes me back to my old self.
I hope all of you will forgive me, and not think less of me because of my mistakes.
Do have a good Super Bowl day. It should be a good game.
I can't cheer for either team today. Pittsburg always beat the Houston Oilers for the end of the season game.
I am a Chicago fan at heart (The Cubs have to win a pennant during my lifetime!) so there is no way I can cheer for the Cheeseheads!
I can get excited about good plays, tho. A good 80 yard run or a long pass into double coverage.
For those who watch CBS Sunday Morning....Charles Osgood wore a bowtie with both teams colors! They did a story on the stadium. Some amazing artwork inside.

Hi Kids,
A sunny day with temps hitting close ot 40..be still my heart! I think the state now,has a count close to 100 of collapsed roofs, with people scattering when they here a creak above their heads....Let it be spring soon, please!
Luanne, there is no need for you to shoulder the WEIGHT of spelling and typing issues..we can all claim a piece of this critisism. After all, I do run the Triponese School ofTyping.....we are taking franchise requests soon! While I do understand that bad grammar, and spelling can annoy some people, in the internet/twitter/facebook era, with non capitalizations and shortening of words,to fit the 140 character rule, the poster who said that, and I read it, needs to get over herself..especially at Cruisemates, where, none of us are perfect.
Yoo dun jest fyne loooAne....Yooor olde selfe was a ceeper two...xoxo
Make it a good one.

Luanne, I was not the one who posted that thread about spelling, however, bad spelling and grammar is one of my pet peeves. I just didn't think it was important enough to get all worked up over.
Having said that, I do NOT think any less of you or anyone else for slip ups in spelling. Heaven knows, you have every excuse not to be "functioning on all cylinders" and I hope we all can understand that.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, "don't sweat the small stuff!"
You, I, and everyone else have much more important things to worry about.
So what if somebody spells something the wrong way? I think we can all figure out what they're trying to say. I'm sure I'm guilty of a few slip ups now and then because my brain goes faster than my typing fingers.
Luanne, please know we all love you, and I for one am proud of you for your weight loss. You go girl!
Good Morning cruisemates! Sunshine and temps at around 70. Ahhhhh, that's the Arizona I've been missing.
Have nothing at all on the schedule this morning. Going to be a free flowing day, until about4 PM, when we're heading over to my sister's for her Super Bowl party.
Just looked at my watch and realized it's only 20 days until we cruise to Hawaii! Have to start getting organized for that too.
Well the snow had fallen once again looks to be about 3 inches. Were also in for some very cold temps starting on Tuesday. I predict the Packers 24-21 over the Steelers. I’m going to pick up a Lou Malanati’s pizza pie, oh so good! GO PACKERS!

Luanne - I wish I could send you a big hug! I watched my mother, for years, suffer when she lost her eldest daughter and would not wish that on anyone. With everything you have had deal with - typos- should be the least of your concern. Let it go right over your head! You owe no-one an apology.
Anyway I sat in a car today for the first time in 1 week and the back ouches. I have been trying to use my Wii daily but maybe I should give myself a rest. So little Jug of Cocktails sounds likea good idea right now.

A friend of mine ,a sports columnist in Fla picked the Steelers to demolish the Packers .He e-mailed me last night for my pick. Football is not my favorite sport .I last watched a superbowl in 1990 .However today I picked GREEN BAY to win and I will be watching the entire game .

I just returned from breakfast. Betty and I have our grandson this weekend and he wanted pancakes for breakfast and I really didn't want to fix a batch so we went out. We had an EXCELLENT breakfast at a new place that opened in a small town about four miles from us. Hash browns with real butter, sirloin steak that was tender and flavorful, pancakes that were light and fluffy and eggs cooked the correct way. Best of all was that it was under $20 for the three of us. It was better than breakfast at Cagney's on NCL.
Today will be a sledding day. This afternoon we are taking our grandson to a big sledding hill near us. We'll place grandpa at the top of the hill and grandma at the bottom and let him walk up and then slide down. Though I'm feeling better I don't think I'm up to going up and down that hill all afternoon.
I did comment on that one thread and I too was bit concerned about some of the comments. The thread was fine but if I look at it as a "newbie" or lurker it would dissuade me from posting or joining in on the boards knowing that people would be scrutinizing how I format my post rather than what I was saying.
I do hope that everyone has a great Sunday and a fantastic week.
Take care,
Mike

Good morning from warm tropical Florida. A little cloudy, but not bad.
I am not a football fan, but being from WI, I have to root for the Packers today. I love it when they win anyway.
We will be having a Super Bowl party at the condo clubhouse later today. Think we'll enjoy some pizza with everybody, but we'll probably not stay to watch the whole game.
LuAnne, I echo the thoughts of what others have said here this morning. There is something to be said for using proper English etc, but in the end we all make mistakes, and we don't need someone harping on us about it. I'd personally rather have someone share with me (mistakes and all) than to have them keep silent.
That's it for now! It's just a fun guess and it seems to get people I know all riled up because they dislike Green Bay. Now if I could only predict the winning Lotto numbers!

I keep hoping the family syndicate would break through - and guess who is treasurer and ticket holder
A guy who attended a school I went to publishes a lotto newsletter in which he predicts lotto numbers . I don't think he has had more than 5% correct .
I LOVE football. As a child, my father was a high school teacher in a small town, and he also referreed football games in neighboring towns, so I grew up with it. Then when he became a college professor we went to all the home games, so I'm on board! I have to root for the Packers becuase the Steelers beat the Arizona Cardinals in the Super Bowl two years ago for which I will always hold a grudge , and one of my friends from the Phabulous Phlamingo Phlock is from Wisconsin so I have to support her!
Luanne, I absolutely would not take personally or react in any way to the picky poster who belives that we should all use perfect grammar, punctuation and spelling in our posts. I am a big proponent of proper usage of the English language, especially in business situations, but our posts in forums such as this one at Cruise Mates are about sharing our experiences and, here on the Chit Chat board, about forming a sense of community. You are an important member of that community. We have cried and suffered with you the last two years and your spelling and grammar are of no importance to those of us who care about you. Keep on being you because we care about you just the way you are.
Work ended at five tonight because of the Super Bowl. Let's face, who would want to do a survey while they are watching the Super Bowl. It sure was nice to drive home when it wasn't dark outside. Being that my mother's family settled in the Pittsburgh area, when they came to the United States, my hope is that the Steelers win the Super Bowl!
Jennifer, I don't usually check the chit chat this late in the day, but I'm so glad I did today. What a surprise and a joy to see your post on this thread. Miss you around here.
