Tuesday and Another Storm!

Morning Mates, woke up this morning to another snowstorm. They're calling for 10 cms this morning and another 10 cms tonight, which should be interesting since I have to be at a meeting tonight and drive home in a storm in the dark.
So far, schools have not been closed, but it may happen at noon. Right now, the roads are not good, so I will not be going swimming this morning.

Yesterday, we tried to cancel our trip to Cuba because we realized we have some major repairs to do to the house come spring, and could use the money.
However, since we are less than 44 days from the trip, the TA refuses to refund. Basically you have to be dead and provide a death certificate before they will refund any money. So, it looks like we will be going to Cuba after all,
which is nice because it's been a hard winter, but it also means I will have to find a 2nd job so we can fix the screen porch...

So, how is everybody else's Tuesday?

Good Morning All

Weather is kind tio us again.

Getting my sister ready for her trip to NZ to visit her eldest son- we set off tomorrow. We are breaking the journey in London so she can visit our London based sister who is receiving chemo for breast cancer. She has far too much luggage but she is flying business class because of her mobility issues. She has 2 cases of presents!

Dinner with friends this evening.

That's all.

Everyone keep safe, well and warm.

Good morning Donna and others to follow.

We had a little snow overnight but now we are in the clear for the rest of the week. The downside is that it will be turning much colder.

Donna since you have to go to Cuba, enjoy your trip. It sure is something that I would love to do.

Have a nice day everyone.

Good Morning CruiseMates!
Well it seems the temp plunged overnight, it is currently 4 degrees. They should be in the 40's by Sunday which is a temperature that I have not seen in quite some time. That will be a very welcome change for me and the robins.

I have to get the kids started earlier today because there is lots to get done and we are having lunch with a neighbor at 11:30, then d/s has checkers club at 3:00.

Anyhow, that's pretty much all that's going on today. I have a really bad case of spring fever and I am ready to start planting stuff.

Hope you all ave a good one!

"baby" snow storm this morning, only a few inches, supposed to stop before noon, and then turn cold, and windy

bjm123 February 8th, 2011 08:51 AM

Cold but sunshine here today.

Packing to go visit my mother in LaGrange, GA today. I plan to come home Fri. if the weather is good. They are calling for 3" of snow here Wed. night and Thurs.

My mother is moving into an apartment in a senior village in March so I am helping her pack. She has been sharing a three bedroom house with one of my sisters for about 10 years. My sister is moving in with her daughter to help her take care of her two kids and hubby(who was dx with Lymphoma) a couple of weeks ago. There will be so much to pack. Luckily I have two sisters and two brothers to help. Unfortunately three of us do not live there.

Have a safe and warm day.

Good morning
BRRRR Itís cold out there! This has been the snowiest winter I swear. We had around 3 inches yesterday and have a few flurries right now. Need to straighten up the house and do some laundry. My mother is having knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus tomorrow. Iím going to make up a pot of soup and pack an overnight bag and spend the night with her just in case she needs some help afterwards.
Not much else going on here, have a great day!

Hi Kids,
We had some snow this morning, nothing serious, but when you have a nice day like yesterday was, you think, spring is coming, but ......(

My oldest and dearest girlfriend, who is suffering with what we thought would be a cut and dry, breast cancer situation, just found out she will indeed need a mastectomy...it just broke my heart...this woman has been through so much, with the passing of her husband and son,and now this...She has such strength..I envy her. I came up with a jewelry design for a braclet, that I made in pink for her,and told her to wear it when she has her treatments, this way a part of me is with her, as she goes through it .. I hope to be able to go with her,and do what I can as she moves forward...it just stinks:(

RD, I hope the weather is not too bad for you....

Make it a good one.

Kuki February 8th, 2011 09:50 AM

Good Morning cruisemates! Sushine and temps into the low 70s await me today.

One of my golf buddies from home is in town, so OF COURSE we're off to a course :)

Mrs. Kuki is going to drop me today, so she can have the car. She's headed to MIM (the Musical Instruments Museum) here that she's heard good thing about.

Good morning everyone:

It was an "interrupted" nights sleep for me. At 3:40 this morning I was awakened by what sounded like the "security breach klaxon", that we had in the data center, when I worked for the bank. It scared the hell out of me. What it was the alarm on my "Merlin@Home" pacemaker monitor. I knew I wasn't dead because the dampness in my pajamas told me otherwise.

I tried for about 30 seconds to figure out how to reset the alarm (there is no off/on switch) and then said "To hell with it" and pulled the plug. However, it has a battery back up, that I wasn't aware of, and kept blaring. I then thought the damn thing was possessed by Trip's computer demon. :D After another minute of blaring, Betty telling me to do the things I had already done and my son's dog going crazy, I was about to just bust the thing over the dresser. Then I saw a small button "under" the base that said: "Silence". I pushed it and the demon was vanquished.

I figured the thing must have went off for a reason so I called the EP Nurse's line and left a message and then did a scan and transmitted it. At 7:00 a.m. the EP Nurse called and said that there was no problem and everything looked fine on the scan. She said sometimes the units get radio frequency interference and that can set them off. I told her that if it does it again I'm shutting it down. There is no real reason, other than convenience, that I need to have it on. Oh well, we'll see if the demon returns.

Otherwise it's cold -18, crisp and clear day here in Minnesota. Nothing on the agenda other than the daily routine.

I hope all Cruisemates have a great Tuesday and enjoy the day no matter what the weather is.

Take care,
Mike

Weather

Surprisingly it did not snow here .It rained during the night but its been sunny all morning .Its currently 38 degrees .

rollerdonna February 8th, 2011 10:35 AM

Oh Mike, you are TOO funny! Only you can make a serious/dangerous situation something to laugh about! I love your spirit. :D

Meanwhile, it cleared up this morning so I went swimming after all, only to come out into a raging blizzard! Roads are slippery, visibility is nil, and I still have to go in to work later. I'm hoping they will close the school at noon...

It is a balmy 18 degrees F in NW Ohio. This should be the high for the day. Next three days are to be same or lower high!! I am so done with winter. We have flurries this morning adding to our already way-too-much snow piles.

Holly has slept overnight for 10 hours the last two nights. No accidents and it feels great. Now, if I could get over this cold I have and actually sleep, too!

Not much else happening. Have a good day all!

Tuesday and another Storm

Good morning! Certainly no snow but no sun, either.

Keith has an appt. with the audiologist this morning for new hearing aids, finally! They offered a special price. one which is much more reasonable than the original offer.

I see the dermatologist this morning. I have some skin cancers that must be removed. My doctor looked at a couple of 'em and said I should see the specialist.

A late lunch at Norm's, probably.

A late good afternoon (and for those across the "pond") a good evening to all!

My heart and prayers go out to Trip's friend and Brenda's.

A typical mostly cloudy winter day here in upper East Tennessee.

I certainly don't envy your experience with your Pacemaker, Mike. I don't have an alarm on my ICD (at least I HOPE I don't) with the exception that if mine goes off, I'll know it as it's like getting kicked in the chest by a mule. There is a unit beside my bed that automatically transmits a comprehensive report (including pacemaker info) sometime overnight (probably around 1:30am EST) or anytime the thing activates. It looks just like the portable phone in most homes except there is no dial, only a set of lights that have different meanings. What I am supposed to do is stay within something like 20 feet of it at all times (it has a clip to put it on your belt). No matter where I am in the world, as long as there is a cell phone signal, it will report (thankfully at no cost to me) but then again, the damned thing cost $89,000. Needless to say, it's never been out of its charger for as sure as God created little green apples, I'd lose the thing!

That transmission is the reason I had to go see my cardiologist to learn that I was back into severe Atrial Fib. I just figured my extreme physical depletion was a result of my grief (which of course only adds to the equation).

Well, it's much neglected housework for me regardless of physical condition, etc. I am furious that it takes me forty-five minutes to accomplish what I used to be able to do in ten. Chances are, however, though I'm going back at some point to Cleveland, I'll have to live with it so at least I'll get plenty of practice acting as if I'm 75 years old even though I'll undoubtedly never reach that age. My personal physician started talking about a handicap parking permit and I told him not to even go there.

Todd,

It was the "bedside" monitoring device that went off. The unit is so "idiot proof" that the only controls are the button to start the scan/transmit process and that elusive "silence" button. The unit is supposed to have a range of 150 ft.

It is a bummer that you are not doing as well. Before they put the new pacemaker in I had the same problem with stamina that you are having. It took me three times longer to do something as it did before. That is if I could do it at all. Things are now much better. Heck, I replaced one toilet today and Betty wants the other three replaced with the "Super Flushers" and I'll do those tomorrow. (I had a hard time replacing three perfectly good toilets just because one went to heck.)

I do hope you get to feeling better.

Take care,
Mike
