Question Who was that Queen?

Another trivia question that we lost the game on ... because my wife would not believe I had the correct answer!

Who was the Queen of the Iceni?

Now I am trusting nobody will be so crass as to Google it! One ship told us they had to outlaw laptops at their Trivia games as one team kept asking for questions to be repeated so their teammate could Google it on a wireless connection ...

That is a good question, and I have no idea. I'll be watching for the answer!

I know but I'll let people figure it out.

I have to say I learned about her from an episode of "Xena, Warrior Princess". Who says TV isn't educational?

Take care,
Mike

Talking spelling

You are on the right track, Henry. Remember that spelling of ancient words (well, and many modern foreign words too) is variable and they are spelled as they sounded to the hearers who then wrote about them.

Iceni and Eceni are variant spellings, and you are right it is an ancient people.

The name of the Queen is also spelled variously and pronounced variously.

My wife and the others on our team picked Ayla, protagonist of the book Clan of the Cave Bear which was very popular at the time. WRONG! None of them thought of Xena ...

Talking The Queen was ...

And the RIGHT answer, which I had (on a guess) but nobody else would go along with, is indeed Boedacia, Boudicca, Boudikka or in all of its many other spellings the Queen of the ancient English tribe of the Iceni who almost ran the Romans out.

Johnthed0g got it right!

And a fine figure of a woman she was! A bit touchy, though.
