My 1st "real" full time job was at W.T. Grant co. I was a sales person in the ladies clothing dept. I was 18 and didn't have a clue,,, My paychecks were spent b/4 I got them,,on clothes,,, I think my pay was around $1.10 per hour. Thank goodness I still lived home with my parents,,,

My first paying job was in the cafeteria of Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, New Jersey; the same hospital that Ricky Nelson was born in, in 1940; I made a whopping, $1.25 per hour.

My first paying job was at a toy factory back in 1970. I believe it paid $1.65 an hr. I was 18 and took the job only to pay for the purchase of my car, a 1962 Chevy Impala. Paid $325 for the 8 yr old car. I had the car for a little over one year and it got stolen. They strip the car totally. Left me an empty shell.

Talking Paying job

Well, when I was about 14 the janitor at our church hired me to help him on Saturdays. My main job was to slide under the pews dusting and sweep the cement floor. I got $1 for about 3 hours work.

My first "real" job was on the staff at Boy Scout camp during the summers. I got paid $300 for eight weeks.

And my first genuine full time career job was as a High School math teacher. I got paid $6000 a year and was delighted!
