Default Amalfi Coast

Help! I'm completely on the fence about this. I want to go back to the Amalfi Coast in 2012. Azamara has a nice itinerary that gives us time in Sorrento, Amalfi and Capri with overnights in each. We're debating Amalfi by land or by sea. Cruise isn't cheap for a balcony and we can do a 3 week land trip Provence, Cinque Terre, Amalfi Coast for the same price as an 11 day cruise.

We wouldn't have a car in Amalfi, those roads are nuts.

What do you think? better to be enjoyed by land? We'd probably do 5 or 6 nights down there.

If it was my choice, I would def do it by land and I love Azamara!

It would also give you the opportunity to see Ravello. I only used public transport on the Amalfi coast! You could also see Ischia!

I don't know if you have walked the Cinque Terre - fabulous.

Enjoy whatever you choose.

What a wonderful dilemma for you....I was close to getting to Capri once, but it fell through..I was going to be in a bead buying frenzy there.(

I wish I had some first hand info to give you... just wait, you will get some good responses!

I have just re-read your post 21 days as opposed to 11 days - let me think - 21 days in that part of the world anytime!

I think either way we'd make it a 21 day trip.

The plan is either 7 days in Provence and a couple in St. Paul de Vence then boarding the ship in Monaco for 11 days and flying home from Rome or.... Landing in Naples, heading to Positano for about 6 days, renting a car at Naples airport, driving up to the Cinque Terre for 4 nights, into St. Paul for 3 then into Provence for a week and flying home from Marseille. $2,700 cheaper to do the land trip. So either Azamara needs to have a good sail or throw in some air. But I still think Land Trip might be the better way to go.

Made up our mind, we're doing a land trip. Fly into Rome and then train down to Naples to stay in Positano for about 6 nights and then head up to Provence and the French Riviera. We'll end with a few nights in Paris before flying home.

Thanks guys.

Hi

If you have not already made the trip, take the train from Paris to Giverny - Monet's garden. V. easily done in a day!

Apparently not we'd move to France in a heart beat.
