At this year's Geneva Car Show, VW introduced an electric motor (186 mile range) reincarnation of the 60's Microbus and they are calling it the VW Bulli (complete with flower power stickers in neon hippie colors) that could be in mass production as early as 2013-14
never owned one because we lived on top of a steep hill and for those of us old enough to remember the Microbus had very little power going uphill
however, it was very popular in the Haight Ashbury portion of Oakland CA
goes to show you that car styles and models are being recycled to an entire new generation

I spent mucxh of the summer of 1970 in that part of Oakland as well as Berkeley ,San Francisco and Sausalito.
Todd..you may want to buy it now as an investment..when this new updated version comes out in the next few years, an original will be worth more $$$$..or you can fix it up and take a road trip to New Orleans and we can go down to the French Quarter and hang out driving around in it and play some hippie music from the 60's ::
In the 70's during the summer, we travelled all over the country in a bright yellow VW microbus camper that had a Porsche engine, so it could make the hills. They kept singing "Yellow Submarine."
I never had a VW. When I came back from Vietnam I bought a 68 Dodge Challenger with a 383 and what we used to call four on the floor. That had no problem climbing hills.
I drove it for 14 years.
