Most Famous Cruise Ship Band !!!
no..not Paul's garage bandroflroflroflthe orchestra on the Titanic...a new book "Band That Played On" by Steve Turner explores how the 8 musicians came about playing on that fateful voyage and also raises questions about whether the last song they played while the Titanic was sinking was 'Nearer My God To The" I'm going to purchase the book and give a review
in today's modern cruise ship cross training emergency proceedures, I would think the musicians would be assisting guests to their lifeboats, but after watching the James Cameron movie I've always been curious as to why they stayed at their post..maybe the book will provide some insight
I believe that in 1912 a musician was dedicated to his job just as certain professionals are in 2011 .They believed it was their duty to continue to play .
I would ,however ,be interested in what you shall ascertain on this topic.
I've posted this before but as sort of an analogy ,a friend of mine died on 9/11 at the WTC . He was Chief Of Security and he made sure that everyone could get out before he attempted to do so. This is what survivors told his family .
