Well at first I liked the straight talk, but then he said something about the former President that I thought was disrespectful. Agree with Mr. Bush or not, but if you have no respect for the office then I'm not so sure you understand or deserve the office. So...... not so sure about him now.

Have never really cared for him and now I just wish he would go away. Maybe if he did more with his money like really work at getting jobs back from other countries i might respect him more but we do not need him running for any political office.

I would vote for the Donald in a heartbeat. He is a very smart man, yes he is arrogant however to really succeed I believe a certain amount of arrogance and a great deal of confidence is required.

I didn't vote simply because I don't think he's really going to run. When it comes to business, he's undoubtedly an expert and has the money to prove it and he has many very valid points. Nevertheless he is not under any of my circumstances at any rate, Presidential material nor is he electable. That in a way is something of a shame as we must have someone at the helm who truly understands the dangerously horrific financial shape (one of the greatest reasons in the price of gas is the precipitous fall of the value of the dollar) this country is really in. Thankfully, however, he's not alone on that score.

When I was 8 years old my father took me to the Real estate Office of a friend of his .The friend brought his nephew and that is when I met Donald Trump . About 12 years ago I attended a conference that Donald was the keynote speaker at . I came with a picture of young Donald and myself hoping to be able to speak with him directly . I was not able to but I did get the chance to speak to his Chief Of Staff who took the picture and returned it to me a short while later along with an autograph of Donald Trump .

I enjoy watching The Apprentice ,not Celebrity Apprentice . Would I vote for him for President ? Probably not ,but then in all my years of voting for the office there was only one candidate who I strongly believed would be an excellent president and he lost very badly .

Call me crazy, but I think The Donald might be a bit short on diplomacy, a very important quality in today's world.

What this country needs is to be run more like a business. A business can not go along year after year losing money and stay in business. The debt of this country is piling up and we are gonna saddle our grandchildren and great grand children with great amounts of debt if we don't balance our budget now!

Can The Donald win??? Probably not but he can't be any worse then Obama.

he's a sideshow diversion...all Presidential candidates are required to supply full financial disclosure and he's not going to do that...he would not pass the character test (multi marriages, multiple bankruptcies and bad hair piece)..plus isn't his current wife not born in the United States ?..he will announce on The Apprentice final episode that he will not run, just to get the tv ratings..Trump is a "brand" and don't get trapped by that buzz phrase about running the Country more like a business.. no business that I know of has a board of directors of 535 and can function effectively

remember when Ross Perot was running for President and his style that made for great media attention for a while but was not able to grasp the political reality to win

Presidential campaigns are won/lost based upon the economy(remember James Carville's famous quote) and there is always a delay in the effect of policies that are put in effect during a downturn that the successor benefits from ...George HW Bush lost the election in part because he broke his campaign pledge of not raising taxes , but Clinton benefitted from that action..the greatest expansion of the national debt occurred during the prior adminstration but I don't recall an uproar from those that are screaming today

bi-partisian cooperation and shared sacrifices is what our Country needs right now to get us out of this mess..Trump does not represent that concept..he does however, make for a great diversion while the opposition scrambles to find a candidate that does..the tone of our political discourse is much more troubling then we realize

Venice for one I would not care about his character test. If he can do Some good to the USA then who cares how many marriages, how many bankruptcies or how bad his hair his.
Most of the presidents are not easy on the eyes anyway.

The US is in desperate need of help if Bozo the Clown could turn things around I would vote for him I would not care that he wears makeup, a colorful jumpsuit and an orange afro.

I agree with Truck let's put a great bussinessman in the white house...can't be any worse then Obama. The USA is one big business corporation.

Let's get Americans out of the unemployment lines and back to work. Too many out of jobs and even worse have no medical coverage. Can't even go to the doctor if they needed to.:evil::evil: My heart goes out to those people.

The irony is some of the same reps who voted to squander the balanced budget 10 years ago AND voted for Medicare Part D in 2003 (unfunded - largest increase in social spending since Johnson) are now complaining about the deficit! If you don't want deficits, then don't take the balanced budget you were handed in 2001 and apply tremendous tax cuts and gigantic spending increases!

God forbid we should return to the balanced budgets, tax rates, and prosperity of the 1990s.

As far as Trump goes, the longer he stays in the spotlight, the better for the Democrats.

CQ....for better or for worse, Americans like to function under the illusion about the values our POTUS should possess...long before you were born there was a huge controversy because candidate John Kennedy was Catholic and would be influenced by The Pope !!!! our system has a safety net that provides for a precarious balance of power between the POTUS, Congress and the Supreme Court, so a POTUS can only have a limited influence/effect (exception, time of declared war) unless all 3 factions are aligned with the stars and the voters..Bozo the Clown would need a running mate that could balance the ticket..Trump might fit that bill :::: (imho Bozo has the better hair piece ::, but Trump has the better looking potential 1st Lady ::...(his running is academic after the conclusion of his tv show)
as far as having a business man in the White House, who was the last POTUS in the Office that held an MBA ??? how did that turn out

I do agree with you about the state of Health care in our Country..the reason why we are in this state is because of the combination of so many Americans losing their jobs/health coverage thru no fault of their own are refused (pre-existing conditions) or cannot afford coverage (COBRA is a joke) by private health care providers ..something had to be done for better or worse

I agree with Aidan ..fyi CQ, you should run for POTUS on the Salsa Party ticket, I would vote several times for you

Most people believe that a casino is a legal license to print money.
They ALWAYS win in the end and ALWAYS make big money.

Donald Trump is one of the very few people in the history of business to manage to bankrupt his own casino, in Atlantic City.

Let's see what he can do with your tax dollars and the US Economy.

Just to add my two cents. I do not think he is running. Living in New Hampshire as many years as I did I noticed a few trends. Serious candidates make early and many appearances in NH if they plan to run. Mr Trump has not been there yet. Just for the record Ms Palin has not shown up in NH yet either..................Just saying

I'm not a US citizen, so some might say I shouldn't "mix in"

Sadly the fact of the matter is the US citizenry gets all caught up in and googly eyed over "celebrity". Trump is really no different than Paris Hilton, the Kardasians, Sarah Palin, all the various housewives of.... etc. etc. etc. They are all part of the gendre of celebrity status, regardless of what else they may do or not do.

It's important to note that things are such a mess that even the very best leader in existance wouldn't have stood a chance to make things good in a short two years.

Economically NO ONE would be prepared to do what is truly required to cut the debt. Everyone wants less debt, but wants someone else to do the suffering and endure the cuts, without stepping on their own toes.

What is really needed is for the economy to be turned over to bankruptcy specialists; those with a track record of taking large bankrupt companies and have turned them around to be profitable, rather than simply winding them down.

There are LOTS of successful business people, who've grown great wealth. Most who have done so wouldn't be interested in leading the country because their hands to do so would be tied behind their back by the electorate that won't tolerate it.

Once again, no on would stand for the actions that would be required to turn things around quickly.

If Donald Trump held your mortgage, do you think he would negotiate a deal with you, or as a businessman, force forclosure?

Default Best friends of the democrats

With people like Trump, S. Palin and a few others the Republicans have lost all credibility.. If Trump claims Obama wasn't born in the US than ALL the people born in Hawaii are not citizens. I find him arrogant and disrespectful to everybody..He wants to go and grab the oil in the Middle East...just like that. It seems S. Palin is being avoided by other members of her party and the other female running (whose name escapes me at this second) is a joke.. Here in MA many of the unions that previously voted for the Republicans have and will turn their backs. Elected incumbents in Wisc. are being "recalled"..Romney is not even discussing the health plan he proposed and is in place for MA. Even Republican pundits on tv are embarassed and wish their p arty would go back to issues. As for health care..my heart if breaking. When the insurance companies were told they had to freeze their rates as of 1/1/11 (I think I have that right) they lowered benefits and raised prices before the date..Sad to tell my Cruise Mate buddies that Parrot Pop, my beloved husband of over 55 y ears has a cancer that is not curable and has just may have a few months, maybe.. Since my last cruise there has been a black cloud over myself with illness... and our bills are insane. We need a national health insurance...for all...including the poorest of our country. I am disappointed in President Obama for acting like a wimp and not standing for his beliefs, but I believe he is a good man. There is no doubt that the Democrats will win with the "Tea Baggers" waving the tail of the Republicans..

Since the thread is political, I may as well add my nickels worth, for what it's worth. I don't think the problems we have today can be solved by any one man in 4 years by himself, regardless of who he is. As we all know any President can only serve 8 years and then has to pack his bags and go. This works two ways--it can be bad, or it can be good. Until we learn that there has to be term limits on congress as well as the President it will not get better.
We all hear the old worn out phrase " both sides have to work together , etc. etc."--but how many times have you seen that happen? It gets continually worse instead of better. I'm not picking on Democrats or Republicans either one--there's blame enough on both sides--it politics as usual and damn the country. If the Democrats come up with a brilliant plan, the Republicans first inclination is to find a dozen ways to shoot it down. If the Republicans come up with something good, the Democrats do the same thing. It's win at all costs, regardless of what it does to the country.
We have people in Congress that's been there so long they have completely lost touch with reality and I would venture to say that very few could tell you what a gallon of milk costs, and many can't tell you what a gallon of gas goes for. Until term limits are imposed on Congress, you may as well get used to the way it is.
We can't control crime, we can't or won't control our borders, because we are afraid of losing a certain block of votes in many states, we send the military do a job without allowing them to complete it as quickly as possible and then come home, as we're afraid we will be politically incorrect and pee someone off, and so it goes. And NO, don't blame me for " running my country down" as happened once before when I made a comment.
If I didn't care about my country I wouldn't give a darn what happened but as I am concerned, I mention, as I deserve to, the above which is my opinion and mine alone.
Vote out the people in Congress that's been there for decades, get fresh faces with some intelligence, vote in a President that has a congress that's willing to give and take with each other and see if it doesn't turn around. Thank you for your support. Keep those donations coming in!!

Congress currently has an approval rating of 16%. I honestly can't remember when it was above 30%. Need I say more?

getting back to the original posting survey question (and trying to move away from the political tone, although I commend my fellow CM'ers for keeping a very cordial and respectful tone)

Donald Trump..enemy or fan?....neither..because I don't expend any of my energy listening to him or taking him seriously

Is Trumpster really running anyway??? A funny thread though....

It's going to a loooong time before the economy starts seeing any improvement. I doubt the economy will ever be the way it was in the good days.

Venice thanks for voting me in the Salsa Party Ticket. Let the Salsa dancing begin....

Parrott Mom..you have my prayers and empathy..when one deals with the health insurance situation first hand, one has a different perspective on the national debate..heaven forbid if you have reached your "cap" or lose your health insurance due to loss of job or changing of jobs or pre-existing conditions..the insurance industry has a powerful lobby ($$$$$)

If only we knew we were living in the good old days, during the good old days...
As for Trump, I don't have a clue what he's going to do, but I am sure that he has a strategy. He is loving the attention and media spotlight. I definitely think he would be a liability in diplomatic relations and probably would be a polarizing figure when it comes to deal making in the legislature. However, he does have business experience, which I suppose counts for something in a time when we really need someone to come in and cut major pork out of the budget and help us to reduce the deficit.

One thing about him is that he doesn't try to portray himself as a boyscout. I think people are tired of being sold a bill of goods, with candidates overpromising and underdelivering. I think his greatest strength is his reputation as someone who will tell it like it is.

That being said. I really don't know if I would vote for him or really consider him as real candidate for President. My perception of him is more of a caricature or cartoon character.
