Default The season final - Survivor

I must say, it has been a long time since I totally agree who won the "sole" Survivor. Congrats to Rob, he did a great job and deserves to win, finally!

I agree, Rob is from the town next door to me, and, deserves the win. His manipulation, with his love strategy, worked 110% this time. Now, Russell will try and fill Rob's shoes, coming back till he wins...won't work though, he lacks his charisma

I agree. He did play a good game. Wonder how long it will take for those girls to realize that they were so badly used? Anyone who has ever watched this game, knows that tagging along very seldom wins.

Jeff tried last night to explain Philip, but I still don't understand. He said on the show that it was just an act, but last night when I thought he would show his real self, he acted the same. One spooky dude.....

Just watched Rob receive his "BIG" check on the Early show...

Now, I thought I read somewhere that he now lives in Florida?? Not sure if that is true...

I love Boston Rob, and I always have! He's one of my favourite characters.

I felt sorry for Matt though that he did not get viewer's favourite. I don't know how quick I would be to fork over 100K, but for some reason I was execting Rob to do so.

Phillip creeps me out in the worst way. He is Psycho. It was not an act. i didn't get his strategy at all. I get that he may have wanted to play a psycho during the show, but at the final tribal counsellor, he was more billigerant than ever, when he should have been trying to win votes.

What was the tally? I missed the first few minutes of the reunion. I see that Rob won, but who voted for him?

Henry.. why do you think $2.1 million is too much? After taxes I'd guess it's not too much more than $1.3 million.

How much do you think the producers and the network made over those two seasons?

Rob played the best game and I am very glad he won.

I am always amazed when people think it's SO TERRIBLE that someone in the game would lie or betray someone. That's the game and it is just a game. There is absolutely no way someone can win or even stick around long if they don't do it.

It also does not mean that the person does this in "real" life. I know I don't but if I would play that game there would be a lot of people who wouldn't like me. I would never be malicious but I sure as heck would deceive and lie within the context of the game.

Also: What the heck difference does it make for Rob and his wife to have won 2.1 million dollars over the last ten years. They played the game and they won. Kuki is right. 40%+ goes to taxes so that's just about $100,000/yr over the last ten years. Not peanuts but nothing exorbitant.

Take care,
Mike

Really? I don't like him at all. I find him (or at least his TV persona) very skeeezy. IMHO, they'd be better off giving the job to Boston Rob.

Exactly. You can take the fellah out of Boston, but you can't take the Boston out of the fellah.

So what? He's the reason the shows were a success. Viewers tune in to see what crazy thing Rob is going to say next. I put him second to (IMHO) most enjoyable survivor character of all time - RUDY! DH and I laughed over the crazy things that came out of Rudy's mouth for a long time. Rob played a brilliant game, and he desserved every penny.

My feeling is that its too much for one contestant .Obviously the production team and Jeff Probst make millions but its time to announce that once you win the million ,thats it ,time for new people.

Ah Henry...you obviously watch these shows, and even have your favorites each time. As a viewer you're giving your implicit approval of the way they do things. You enhance their ratings at the same time.

Still not sure why you think the producers and Probst are free to make as much as they can but contestants should be restricted.

That's how reality programs began... it was MUCH cheaper than to produce a show with real actors and writers.

Mike, this "friends" attitude has always made me laugh. Have the ever watched a show? Have they never seen any of the strong ones, maniupulate others? Suddenly, their rivals have become friends and they are surprised, when they get voted out...??? They need a major reality check.

And even when someone says..it's a game stupid!"...they don't get it.

Henry,
At the time, it was Amber that won the million and that is where Rob and her met, later to marry, so it was her winnings that time. He was actually in the top 3 that time as well.

I do also remember them both doing Amazing Race, but they didn't do too well on that one.

When I produced my plays I received the same monetary gain as my actors . That was nearly 50 years ago .
The personalities on a reality show are not actors ,while I personally believe its ludicrous to pay a million dollars ,I understand the necessity .
