this weekend in New Orleans is the annual Greek Festival...it's my favorite festival (yes even more then the Jazz and Heritage Festival), because of the incredible Greek food, music, drink and dance..having been to Greece several times, I feel right at home..plus the Greek Festival is a huge supporter of Special Olympics

what type of ethnic festivals does your community have on an annual basis?..have you ever visited the Country of the festival ?

Toronto is the HOME of festivals, especially food/ethinic ones! The major ones:


Taste of the Danforth (The GREEK festival!)
Carabana (The Caribean Festival - due to be renamed this year due to copyright infringement).
Viva Goa (My ethnic heritage!)
Toronto Taste
Taste of Little Italy
Taste of Lawrence (International)
Taste of India
Festival of Beer
Carabram (in Brampton, ON - International)
Carasauga (In Mississauga, ON - International)
Summerlicious/Winterlicous - not an ethinic festival per se; but some of the best restaurants go to a prix fix menu

We have a wonderful Greek festival at the Greek Orthodox Church in Fresno.

At Pentecost the local Portuguese communities have marvelous festivals.

We also have the Garlic festival in Gilroy (is that Italian? )

There are several good Scottish Games around.

The thing we are really into big is Renaissance Faires, which in a sense are our ethnic festivals, I guess.

And of course there is the Clovis Rodeo, definitely an unusual ethnic festival ...

Not in my town but nearby towns have Greek festivals .In NYC next month there will be a Native American festival

In Boston's Little Italy, the North End...every Saint has a festival throughout the summer....the narrow streets and cobblestones really make you feel you are on vacation in Italy....ok, maybe if you squint

In our area we have Greek, Itatian, Polish , Portuguese, Brazilian and Cuban festivals on a yearly basis. I have attended most of them.

In the last two years I have been to several Portuguese festivals in Palm Coast, FL. I have made some friends there and even found a cousin that I had never met before.

Next week is the 25th anniversary of the annual Texas Scottish Festival & Highland Games. I have been every year.

There is an enormous Scottish and Highland Games Festival every summer over at Grandfather Mountain in the Smokies and yes, I have been to Scotland as long as New Scotland, New York counts!

Yes, I've been to the Ole Sod many times. I've been just about everywhere in Scotland, but have spent a lot of time in Edinburgh and the Isle of Skye.

I've been to GMHG quite a few times Todd. I'm not sure about New Scotland, NY, but I have been to Nova Scotia quite a bit.

Todd..with that logic :::: whenever I am missing Venice, I just get in my car and drive 50 miles south to Venice Louisiana and when I am in a romantic mood for Rome, I can always go visit Rome New York and when I lived in PA, I use to drive thru... Hell... all the time ::
