Default Vacation pictures

On the average how many pictures do you take on a vacation ? We normally take about 75 for a 10 day sea or land cruise .

I received an e-mail yesterday from a friend who just returned from a River Cruise to Russia ,Estonia and Finland .He and his wife took 2300 pictures .I nearly fell off my chair.

No two vacations are the same; we have taken as few as a couple of hundred up to around 3000. Digital photography allows you to take multiple pictures on different settings knowing that you can select the best when you get home.

anywhere from 100 to over 700 for a cruise, depends on what we do at the ports. for the few land vacations that we take around 100 or less.

On a normal cruise I take maybe about 100 per 7 days. Then when I get home I select the best for my blog at Cruising with the Halls. It is my habit to post a few pictures and some commentary that I hope is interesting, rather than saying "Look at my pictures" and posting all 100 (or 400 from our last trip!) for people to sort through.

I also don't bother taking photos that other people have done better. At Angkor Wat there are dozens of books with thrilling pictures of the temple. Why should I bother to take another one? BUT -- that picture of ME riding the elephant is priceless!

In the Egyptian Museum there were dozens of people crowded around Tut's Mask. At that Museum you have to check your camera at the door. One person pushed through the crush and held her camera up to take a picture of the mask. A security guard pushed in, grabbed her camera and confiscated her whole card. NOW ... the question is, what kind of picture did she think she would get in that situation, why did she try to take it, and WHAT did she plan to do with it? For 50 cents, you can buy a great postcard with a professionally laid out and lighted picture of the mask.

If you look at my pages, you will see the same boring composition again and again. Mike and Renée in front of St. Marks. Mike and Renée at Angkor Wat. Mike and Renée feeding the lemurs in Madagascar. Mike and Renée trekking the Amazon Rain Forest. Mike and Renée in the water at Half Moon Cay. Mike and Renée in front of the glacier. A professional photog would scorn them. BUT -- they are special to me, and NOT of something I could buy on a postcard!

OMG ask a simple question and get another one of Mike's rants ... sorry about that ... well, not really sorry ...

Disney, was the exception ... I took about 1,500 pictures and had over 500 on my photopass account!

On a cruise, i'd say I take about 1000 to 1500 pictures. [my kids are pretty darned cute though!].

On Eurodam, I have [action shots] of them dancing in front of Rembrandt's portraits on Deck 6 mid-ship! If you speed through the pictures, you almost have the action of them dancing!.

My beef? DH is not into photos at all. If I ask, he'll take a shot of me. So, of these 1500 pictures, less than 5 will be of me. On some holidays, years from now, the chidlren will wonder if mom even went on the trip.

Henry

On my last cruise, a young Boston couple took 500 each per day - for a 7 day cruise = 7000. OK it was a European cruise

They admit they will reject 95%.

For myself, I take less and less approx 100 for 7 day trip.

Annie
