Heat Wave....UGH

It isn't even 6 AM and it is already 80 degrees out there with high humidity. This entire week is supposed to be in the mid 90's, not going to be fun....

Trip July 18th, 2011 08:17 AM

Here too, hotter as the week goes on...remember, hydrate t0 the max!

Donna, it's summer! If it was not hot people would complain.
Besides summer does not last very long.

Have a nice day folks.

It is brutal! Thank goodness for a/c... I am thankful though. I helped our youth group at church put together a fundraising concert last night and it was wonderful, all the people who were looking to escape the heat came in and enjoyed the evening with us, it might have been tough to compete with beautiful weather and moderate temps... OK it can cool down now though lol.

Good morning Donna, Trip, Manuel, B/W and all who follow.

It's going to be around 90 F here in upper East Tennessee today and is forecast to be going up through mid week. But as Manuel pointed out, it is summer and also true is that it wasn't that long ago that we were begging for summer weather. Matter of fact, Rollerdonna still is. Speaking of R/D, where is she?

Anyway, several appointments on the agenda today. One is with an Optometrist. No longer are retailers allowed to read prescriptions off existing lenses here in Tennessee if the script is over one year old. You now have to get a new prescription. My opthamologist's office said mine was expired last November and I need to schedule an appointment. I'm not waiting two months for a simple lens prescription and between co-pays and deductibles, it would cost me not a whole lot less than the Optometrist at Wal-Mart so I'll be there at 11 this morning for a check. I need those sunglasses since I ran over mine with my lawn tractor last week. They look kind of wierd all twisted up with only one partial lens left in the frame. rofl

Then it's to lunch with a friend.

Hope everyone has a great week and of course Prayers for all of you'uns (especially Helen) who are ailing as well as a request for Blessings upon all of of you continue.

Todd

Morning Mates, I'm here, just slept in this morning as I'm not going to work. I officially quit my new job yesterday and when I told her I didn't know how my back would allow me to finish my 2 weeks notice, she said no problem, just don't come in.
So there you have it, the shortest job life in history!

You know the old saying, when one door closes, another one opens?
Well my old boss (after-school program) has welcomed me back for Sept. AND has offered me an extra position in a start-up pre-school program in my own town, 2 mornings a week! Not only that, she has invited me to spend 3 days this weekend at a YMCA conference in Halifax, all expenses paid, with her and another co-worker. It will be an educational and fun ladies' weekend away and I am so looking forward to it!

As for the heat wave, I guess you could say we're having a heat wave too - it has warmed up to 20C or 63F but it's raining once again. :(
Yesterday though, it got up to about 24 (75) and was a beautiful sunny, breezy day. We take what we can get!

Spent the day yesterday on my friend boat up in lake county, very nice! A pool in my yard would be so nice to have this week.

Good morning all. Heat wave. Hmm, the whole summer here has been one big heat wave. I say every year at this time that I'm going to move. You guys may dream of summer but I don't. I flat out hate it. One of these days I am going to move. I'd love a cooler climate.

Anyway, it's the beginning of another week. The first part of mine will be busy. Hope everyone has a good one. Congrats RD on the job. Glad that you won't be killing your back.

Temperatures in the mid 90's count as cool days this summer in south Texas. Enjoy your heat!:D:D:D

LisaK July 18th, 2011 11:39 AM

Heat Wave . . . Ugh

Good morning! Yep, it's hot here, too, and going to be hotter.

Good ol' Monday. Gym for Keith, laundry for me.

Have a good day, heaet or no heat.

It's summer, so we are getting the heat and humidity. That is what people wish for during the winter.

People who live in the Northern states will be complainig that it's cold by the end of august.

Enjoy the heat, winter is just around the corner.

[B]RAIN RAIN GO AWAY another drizzly day in the Pacicfic Nortwest!I think so far this summer we might of had a whole week in which it did not rain!I was wactching the news last night and they said the High presure system over the middle of the country that is causeing the heat wave is keeping all the low presure systems stuck out west!Which means more yucky weather for us! And they dont see a change real soon either !Well everyone stay cool or dry what ever the case may be and have a good day. Time to go slave away!

There is a difference between enjoying a hot summer day,and some of the cruel heat many are experiencing. 113 heat index is tough to handle for many:(

Trip, you are right. A very high heat index is indeed hard to take.
But I will say the below-zero temps whit high wind are just as bad.

Manuel July 22nd, 2011 07:44 AM

The heat is still here. Today we are expecting 100 F.

It will be a summer to remember.

I feel for everyone caught in the heat.It can be really hard for some people. Yesterday in our part of the country we had the windshield wipers flapping again! The high temp was 65 that probaly sounds like heavan to alot of people right now but its getting a little old for us.I guess we dont get a summer this year Looked at the forecast we should get one nice day then back to the showers Well everyone take care. Try to stay cool or dry what ever the case may be!:)

Aerogirl July 22nd, 2011 09:57 AM

They tell you with this heat you should check on the elderly.
Funny thing is that when I think of checking on the elderly I find myself calling my sibling & friends LOL how did that happen :)

This morning, I woke up to 86 Deg. F. and 86% humidity -- which put the dew point somwehere into the 70's).

Yes, the humidity is very oppressive if one is not accustomed to it. Nonetheless, I don't have to shovel it, scrape it, or otherwise clean it up, so I'm NOT complaining about it!

But do take it easy and stay hydrated, especially if you don't have air conditioning!

Norm.

Donna July 22nd, 2011 09:10 PM

Hi Sharon,
I'll gladly trade weather with you, not a hot weather person....Hope you get a little more heat and sunny skies...
