I'm beginning to think I'm more of a hot rodder than I realized, love the new SUV but it’s not like my Impala. I really zipped around it that baby, the SUV moves but makes me feel a little old. I’m sure I’ll adjust as well as slow down. I'm kind of missing my car but I'm sure that will change it's just a matter of adjusting. Are you a car or truck or SUV person?
My preference is walking .I gave up driving nearly 8 years ago.
Josh has my old Ford Taurus. It's a 2003 and still drives as well as it did when new.
I can relate. Our friend is driving the 1997 Ford Taurus that we gave him and it still runs very well.

The Big 3 automakers are cashing in on the fact that the Baby Boomer generation is now entering retirement with 401K 's to spend (and AARP lower auto premiums) and bringing back the cars of our youths that we either owned or wanted to own (of course I was the only kid in high school with a 63 VW Beetle always wanted a 1965 Pontiac GTO)..when you see a new Mustang, Camero, Charger or Vette at the gas station more then likely the owner is over 59 then 19
now one is screaming to bring back the 1964 Plymouth Fury or 1961 Nash Rambler (well maybe Kuki) or the 1966 Ford Country Squire stationwagon with the fake wood side panels
I'm still trying to figure out how I made out with my GF in the back of my 63 beetle...oh yea, NOW I remember :::: looking forward to trying the same thing in the 2012 beetle (now if I could just find the same GF :::
Okay, as a teenager, I always dreamed of cruising down the highway a brand new 1973 Imperial LeBaron (Chrysler) sedan with the leather interior, well equipped, including the trailer towing package (rated for 7,000 pounds of trailer). Of course, this car would be towing my Avion travel trailer to my favorite get-away spot or perhaps to the next destination on my tour of the country....

My secret desire 1967 Impala. Isn't she pretty. I just want to drive her pass a Dealership that sells Smart cars and Prius and gun the motor.

I love my 2001 Pontiac Grand Am and it drives just as well as when I bought it but it does have 138,000 miles on it so at some point...... It is rather small and at 6'4" and 64 years old, it's getting harder to get in and out of.
I want a Malibu V-6 but DeAnna wants me to get an SUV because I could actually climb into it as opposed to unwinding out of the Pontiac. I'm just not really an SUV person at this stage but who knows?
Kat...it was a very hot car...the local Methodist pastor (who was married to a beautiful Delta flight attendant half his age) in our rural community owned a 1966 dark green Impala 396SS and a Harley motor cycle...he and my brother would ride their Harley's and drag race their cars on Saturday but he could never convince my brother to come to Church on Sunday
very surprise that Chevy has not revived the SS396 in either the Impala or the Malibu version (loved the 1966- 2 door SS version of the Malibu )...the big rival to the Impala SS396 was the Oldsmobile Cutless 4-4-2
I should pratice my techinque; I wonder if my hubby would help me.
I am sure that your hubby would love to help.

I would love to have one of those as well.

Kat...first you would have to find a drive in ::::....second you would both have to take a yoga class for 6 months prior ::::....third don't forget to remove the oversize dice (hanging on the rear view mirror) and the extra large chrome stick shift knob on the center console...and finally, when you call AAA, don't forget to have them bring the jaws of life to extract both of you ::::
it's amazing the things we could do in tight spaces when we were young
it's amazing the things we could do in tight spaces when we were young
When I was young my weight was a lot less than it is today. So the spaces were not quite as tight.

Manuel...that applies to so many things in our lives..my neighbor has a 1973 VW beetle that she lets me start up for her and take down the street every once in awhile..compared to my 2003 beetle it seems tiny..the new 2012 21st Century Beetle is suppose to be 4 inches wider and 6 inches longer and 5 inches higher then my 2003 version..therefore using your logic , as long as my 2011 GF is the same size asmy 1969 GF and taking into account that I am bigger (weight wise) and the 2012 beetle is larger then the 1973 version, my GF and I should be able to fit just fine, plus the moonroof is much bigger to see the stars and the fender sound system in the 2012 version is alot better then my $39.95 radio shack 8 track tape am radio version purchased in 1973..as a matter of fact the fender sound system cost more then my entire 1973 Beettle ::::
In 1984 I married Jim, and he owned a 1973 VW. I hated that car. It was yellow, with one blue wheel cover, one orange, and one yellow. No matter how much he worked on it, it would never start like it should. It was all we had, so I had no choice but to drive a stick. I learned one day in the parking lot.
I soon learned to park on a hill, so I could jump start it, but from time to time, I had to ask others to help.
We lived in California, and I was lucky there were so many hills.
The city decided to do a photo of the city, taken from a helicopter. It was not until we had moved to Germany, that I received from my former boss, a smaller photo of the city one. There sat my ugly, a** car sitting on a city street.
