Default Trip, and My Other Jewish Friends

I was watching House Hunters last night, and the woman needed a Kosher kitchen. What do you need to do in order to have one?

Do any of you have one? Could you explain why it is needed.

Thanks

Luanne, I am a convert to reform Judaism, done out of respect to Bruce's Mom & Grandmother. My Mom was catholic, with her maiden name being, Christian At the Stage Deli, in NYC, I asked the waiter for a glass of milk with my chopped liver sandwich, I thought the poor man was going to faint I also got a Jewish star, for Christmas one year!!

That is part of what Kosher means not eating dairy and meat together, and for the kitchen, two sets of pots and pans, and dishes are needed, one set for meat, other for dairy......This is my simplistic explanation. I know someone else will give better information.

I once saw a decorationg show for a kosher kitchen...it was literally divided in half, with two of everything needed, to separate the two.

Luanne, your question is a very good one, so I googled and found this article.:

How to Keep a Kosher Kitchen

It does a very good (in my opion) job of explaining.
