Default My 1st time

I was in Whole Foods yesterday for the first time, and I was overwhelmed! Do you have them in your area, and, do you food shop there on a regular basis? They have a zillion things, and I bought things I never heard of before....one area was like a buffet on a cruise ship....even several different kinds of creme brule! Bring your first born...many things are $$$$$

We have them here but not close by. It would be a special trip to go there. But, yes they do have amazing stuff!

Yes, there's one in Pasadena. I'll have to make it a point to go there. I know they're always busy.

We have em here in central TX, but usually only 1 or 2 in each bigger city. One of my softball buddies works for them at a corporate level and travels all over the place working on new development. Neat concept, but not for everyone...

We do not have a Whole Foods nearby but occasionally we are in an area where there is one .I find that for the most part they are very overpriced.

I've been to the one in Minneapolis three or four times. They do have a wide variety of items but their meats and produce are very overpriced. I can do much better at the local farmers market, meat locker and butcher and still get organic and high quality meats for less. I am not a fan of grass fed beef but I can also get that for a lot less than Whole Foods charges.

It's a great concept and they deliver what they say they will and for people in an urban area it's an excellent alternative but in my area I can do better.

It sure is a lot better than walking the meat department at Wal-Mart and seeing that unnaturally red meat-like product they have.

Take care,
Mike

I'm from Nashville. There are at least 2 whole food stores I can think of right now.

I was similary in awe upon entering the store. Its like a grocery store from the movies!

I wouldn't say I shopped there frequently, I'm not really into organic stuff. But, I did go there for their meal options (I love getting lots of small items from the buffets just to try), fancy/yummy desserts and a few food items I couldn't find elsewhere.

Oh I also think they are very over-priced for organic produce. I do like to go in and shop every once in awhile, have had them around here for years...

Well, if I shopped there ... I would not be able to afford to cruise!

We have one in our little town, and I find them good for the odd "specialty" item. But I would never shop there on a regular basis.

I refuse to pay the higher price for organic products. I have been eating
dead animals and contaminated vegetables for all of my long life, and I still feel great! We have HEB gracerie stores here in South Texas and the HEB Central Market has an even larger assortment of interesting foods than does Whole Foods.

There's a Whole Foods between me and Kroger's. I go to Kroger's! We don't need "fancy, schmancy" groceries. Frankly, I'm not sure that the "natural" foods are natural. I think store's are making big $$ by offering all things "natural".

Laura, I love "Half Foods" !

I had seen on Twitter, Andrew Zimmern was now associated with Cascal, soda, [tonic] to this Bostonian, but, I went because Whole Foods, was not far from the place we ate Saturday night...They also gave a dollar off coupon.

Since I never had been in this market before, I figured we could make a stop. The tonic is made in a micoro brewery, and is called Cascal fermented natural soda. The flavor I wanted was, notes of pear, apricot, and magnolia.

Well, fermented does not mean carbonated, and, this 4 pack, will be my 1st and last Cascal;( Tasted more like juice.

I just finished a honeydew nectarine from there...who knew there was such a thing....we also bought aniother odd combo fruit, but, I forget the combo!

I was wide eyed, and, the prices can put you in the poorhouse, if you want one of this, and, one of that...glad it's not close by...just running in for milk could do you in
