It's the same year after year that by the middle of August our Costco stores have all their Christmas stuff out.....trees, decorations and lights.

What can I say, except that I agree with you !

It's not only the holiday's coming at us way too quickly, but the campaigning for President, 2012, "stuff" is too much, too soon!

I just want to close my eyes and run away!

I didn't need to read this.

I was up before dawn this morning and in the eastern sky I saw the top of Orion.

The temps have cooled and there is an evening chill in the air.

My tomato plants have given up about 3/4 of their bounty.

Back to school is in full swing.

The State Fair starts on Thursday.

For some reason I am not looking forward to Fall. I have an almost nervous feeling about it. This is not normal for me.

Take care,
Mike

Hmm, it usually starts in September here.

As for the political season starting, I hate it, I hate it, I hate it. It is so much worse than the holiday season starting too soon.

Christmas stuff doesn't usually start to appear here until late September; right now they're pushing Halloween and Thanksgiving.

Politics, however, never stops in New Hampshire. We pay for our first-in-the-nation primary by having year-round political polls that most of us feel obligated to answer.

I feel the same about all of the above and I especially feel sorry for residents of New Hampshire as regards political crap but I guess there's a price to pay for being first.

Annie, I guess since I gave all my Christmas stuff to my daughter, I didn't give it a thought. I used to buy some in the islands..once I saw Santo on the corner there, in shorts

How was your trip to Croatia....do tell all please!

Trip

Thanks for asking! The Croats have done a remarkable job repairing Dubrovnik. There is still underlying tension after the war and a good deal of bitterness esp amongst the young.

I had forgotten how small the Old Town is and do wonder why the cruise lines schedule 5 or 6 ships in port on the same day. I escaped by sailing either to a nearby island or town.

Dubrovnik is still very beautiful but if I was to return I would stay outwith Dubrovnik or possibly Montegreno.

There is a concern that if stores don't get Christmas displays up earlier than Halloween displays, and in much larger size, this constitutes an "attack on Christianity".

We have all seen what happened in past years when shops would display "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas" ....

If I was a shopowner in the more radical areas, I'd probably keep Christmas displays up year round just to prevent any violent acts.

Well Costco is always a season ahead---the early bird gets the worm so to speak------with almost everyone grown up in the family--we are tending to skip most of the holidays------and all the hard work that goes with it--kind of sad but lot less pressure too-----
Enjoy it while you can and for as long as you like---lol I keep some holiday stuff up all year long--

cheers
April

I'm just ready for the summer to end. I hate wearing shorts and t-shirts all the time.

Regards,
Thomas
