It is Labour Day already and the very last day of summer vacation. So sad, knowing summer is officially over and it's back to the grind tomorrow. Here, it feels like summer only started 3 weeks ago...
Trip, in answer to your question yesterday, yes, I am going back to last year's job in the after school program. It is not ideal, but I can stick it out for one more year until the new "Wellness Centre" is built and opens a new child-care facility by next Sept. I have already been offered a job there...
Sunny, warm, and windy here today, looks like a good day to greet the tourists at the Ship Hector, which is what I'll be doing all afternoon.
Have a good one!
I was up VERY early this morning because "Sleeping Beauty" was not sleeping. Her shoulder and arm were bothering her so she was tossing and turning and then the TV went on and I was wide awake. She is now back to sleep and hopefully will get a few more hours of rest.
We had a good day yesterday. The grandkids were with us for Saturday and Sunday. Betty took them shopping on Saturday and yesterday my daughter and SIL came over and we all had a nice BBQ.
I have two tomato plants that have gone crazy. I have one that has gone feral on me. It is huge and between the two plants we've pulled about 100 tomatoes off of them and there are still plenty more to ripen. We picked over 40 tomatoes yesterday and today I will be making marinara sauce to freeze. Gee: we just wanted a couple of plants so we could have a few tomatoes for sandwiches, salads and to do tomato mozzarella salads. I have eaten more tomato, basil, mozzarella and balsamic salads in the last month than I've eaten in the last four years.
Today will be just a restful day. However I may be taking a last minute cruise. Friends are sailing on 9/16 to Bermuda on Norwegian Dawn and asked if I would like to go. Betty can't because she needs to save her vacation for a trip to Poland with my MIL. The single supplement for this cruise is only 125% so it is lucrative.
I hope everyone has a great Labor Day and a wonderful rest of the week.
Donna; Does Canada celebrate "Labour Day"?

Sun is out there, and the rains are coming so they say, from the storm down south..more rain..oy!
Like Mike, my garden has been bountiful, with killer tomatoes, eggplant, and, cucumbers. Who knew we were farmers, and the word crop, has actually been used in a sentence in this house! I will need Mike's marinara recipe to freeze these babies!
Please keep Tweety[Gaile] ans her husband & family in your heart today, as Harry is being operated today for a recent fall. "Da Coot" as he has been called for years now, is a sweety, and can use our prayers.
Make it a good one,and enjoy the fleeting summer.
Trip, with her book & tea!

Good morning Donna, Mike, and those to follow. I am celebrating the fact that it is cool outside. So much so, that I have a few windows open. It won't last very long, as it is due to get warmer, but for now, I am enjoying the birds singing outside.
Donna, I am so proud of you. You jumped right in and found another job, and seems to be doing better with your back. I wish you all the luck this school season.
Mike, My one and only tomato plant died. I guess it was just so hot, or I was not watering enough. Will try again next year.
Well, The lastest news with Jim is that he will do his full year, overseas. He will withdraw from Iraq, but will be staged close enough in another country, incase they are needed in a hurry.
He will be able to take leave later on, but instead of coming here, we are going to meet him in London. This is a bucket list location, so I am excited.
I did tons of research yesterday, and learned that I didn't know a lot of what everyday day life was like in the UK. I "m not talking about the Tower of London, I am talking about what the heck is a Banger?
I need someone to tell me a book I could get that would explain the basics. I want to go and feel like an explorer, and not a goofy tourist.
We have still not decided which month we will be traveling. It would be between November and March. If someone has an idea, I would appreciate it.
Well, I hope all of you have a good day. I am going to go and enjoy Texas for a couple of hours.
Morning all. It's still quiet here. Not much going on yet. Had a busy day yesterday, which was a bit of a surprise. I just kept finding things to do. I hope today will be quiet.
Did get some bad news though. I had not heard from my BFF for a while but thought she'd been busy. Well, she had, but not in a good or even usual way. Her dad had a heart attack in mid August, heart surgery five days later, and then passed away five days after that. They just buried him less than a week ago.
Luanne, I think going in March would be nice but then if you went in December that would give you the holiday spirit. I hope you enjoy yourself whenever you go.
Luanne, as I am married to a Brit, I learned long ago what many of the British terms means, including "bangers and mash"!
My suggestion is to watch, on PBS any of the Brit-Coms, which are very funny, but will also teach yu most terms you need to know. Most importantly, the "loo" is the toilet.....
W e will spend our morning organizing and packing. We ae keeping our house in Ct. for the next couple of years or so. Now we have to decide what stays here and what is going to Florida.
Carnival Liberty New Year's Eve 2007
Liberty of the Seas 5/2008+11/2009
Allure 1/16/ 2011
Independence of the Seas 12/29/2013 Top-notch!
"Tweety" and "Da Coot" and Moiraine's friend's family have been officially added to my prayer list.
So far, we've only had a light steady rain and now it's only sprinkling. The heavy stuff is to move in this afternoon. It's going to be raining off and on, sometimes heavily, for about the next three days. We're forecasted to get 6 inches or more. Looking at the radar, however, it appears we're not going to get the worst of it by a long shot (maybe I shouldn't have said that). I exchanged e-mails with my brother in Clinton and he says they're being hammered. Not only are we getting the remnants of Lee but it is combining with a cold front which will only result in more rain in this section of the country.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Labor (Labour for you'uns North of the border) Day wherever you are and regardless of the weather.
