Default "Be true to thine selves"

If a political question is asked will you always give your true opinion ? If you feel your opinion will anger the majority will you express it anyway ?

I always try to be honest in my opinion . My points of view on some issues are far to the left of most people here but conversely many of my opinions are far to the right of the majority .The latter of which tends to surprise people but even if people agree with me my feeling is that they will keep their opinions to themselves.

Never seen the point of having opinions & keeping them to yourself, they are merely thoughts then surely? Some love me for it, find me amusing & agree, some literally hate me even though they have never met me. Being how I am makes me who I am, I am happy with how I am, if people don't like it well I am sorry but too bad!

Henry, I agree with you1 My opinion wouldn't be worth anything if I weren't honest in expressing it.

I was taught to speak your mind and share your beliefs when appropriate, but in a diplomatic way and w/out "sugar coating" the truth or message you are trying to convey.

In my primary business, "opinions" are a valuable and necessary asset and assist in the growth of our financial position in the QSR industry.

To all who refrain from offering an opinion:

YOUR OPINION COUNTS !

Henry...
That's an odd post, since in another thread recently you said you don't mean what you say when you post; that what you really think doesn't matter.

So, from all that we have to assume since you don't post what you mean, you don't always try to be honest in your opinion. Perhaps you want to make up your mind first

Without a doubt I would voice it! Everyone's entitled to their opinion, however when it comes to people’s personal lives I try not to give one unless asked!
We all know what they say about opinions….
There like______ everyone has one!

When asked for my opinion, I shall always provide same. Many may not agree with me and I have absolutely no problem with that. Although I've been remiss in this regard, I, a couple of months ago, decided that I would go out of my way to disagree without being disagreeable. In short, I'm not as impulsive as I was even six months ago.

As I once wrote, an emminent attorney in the Southern Tier of New York once told me I could write the most devastating stuff he'd ever read. He meant that as a compliment but I didn't accept it as such. Men mature much later than women and at the age of 64, I guess I'm just starting to mature.

If I disagree with someone, I'll do so, but I'll go to the extreme to try and not do so in a hurtful way. I once sent a PM that I felt was legitimate but I never received a reply. In retrospect, I realized that my phraseology made it appear to be sarcastic although I didn't mean it that way at all.

We must always remember (especially yours truly) that words can be as devastating as a sword. Remember, that is a two way street. I shall, take to task, one who espouses an opinion that is really not supported by facts but again, I'll do so in a reasonable way.

Opinions are opinions and we all have them. I shall say that most of my opinions are supported by historical precedence as, most of you know, I am a major history buff.

While I shall not be hurtful, I certainly won't be "politically correct" as they say, for to do so by either side is a fraud even when they are not aware. When that occurs, I shall counter with historical fact. Most of you have no idea the extent to which I go to counter an arguement with which I disagree and always remember this, my research always is based upon research on both sides of the question. In short, whenever possible, I back up my position with facts, not just personal opinion.

Todd

Henry

It all depends on who the OP is.

I have expressed my opinion strongly in the past only to be sent a pm accusing me of being a troll?

To be honest I don't know what the writer meant exactly.

I am who I am- no troll or fake - and hell with my celtic heritage I call a spade a spade.

I believe you are misquoting me .Everything I have ever posted on CM is 100% what I believe . What I have said is that at times I may start a thread to generate a thought that I do not necessarily share .However when giving my opinion its always the emmas .

I use to say what I thought, but have learned that I am on the wrong side of politics here, so I just read what others have to say, and hope that I learn something.

Luanne, we can't all have the same opinion on every subject.
That does not mean that we are wrong or that we are right.
Than God that we do have freedom of speech. I like to read your posts and I have no problem with your views.

If we are polite to one another we can be friend with people even if they have diferent political views.

My son is very conservative and one of my daughters is very liberal and we all get along just fine.
