Friday Nov.11 is VETERANS DAY

After the attack on Pearl Harbor many americans enlisted into the armed services . Among them were 3 of my cousins (brothers) .I was not born at the time but this was related to me years later . Two of them came home after the war ended and the third brother became a career officer retiring in the 60's .

In 1963 , two of my friends enlisted into the army .In the same year the future husband of one of my school friends did as well .
One of my friends left after his tour of duty ,joined the NYC police force and died on 9/11 .
My second friend who was like a brother to me became a career officer and died in the Gulf War . The third guy became a career naval officer and died in Katrina in the year he planned to retire .

I was asked once by Todd if I was a pacifist . The answer is no ,I am not . If America had been attacked by a foreign nation while I was of age I definitely would have enlisted as my cousins did before me .

I am not writing this to debate or to attempt to change any persons point of view . I am merely stating that Nov.11 is time to remember the women and men who have honored America with their service .

Today is very special to us. It is important that we always remember.
