Interesting Christmas/Hanukah gifts
 

The lovely Mrs. Jones (Vita) just gave me my gift for this year, and it's exactly what I wanted! It's a Frank Sinatra Fedora! Black wool, with a black silk ribbon, and 1 1/2" brim. VERY classy indeed!
I've still got 3 VCR's around here Henry, and probably only 30 movies, so if your VCR ever breaks, let me know! :D

Probably the most unusual gift I ever received was from my mother who used to knit gorgeous wool cabled sweaters. She was a true seamstress even once making a duplicate of an horrendously expensive wedding gown as a friend's wedding present.

Until I was an adult I never had to buy a sweater and boy were they heavy and warm. Then one Christmas several years before her death, I received a sweater that was extremely heavy. I put it on and both Fran and I died laughing - we absolutely couldn't stop. I'm a big guy but this thing would have fit King Kong and I'm not kidding! The waist was down around my ankles and I kid you not, the sleeves dragged the ground and I'm over 6'4"! Guess she got a little carried away. rofl

Todd, Thanks for the laugh. Having had the pleasure of meeting you I could picture this all too well. The image made me really laugh out loud.
I used to get mittens knitted by my great aunt. Every year the mittens came, lovingly knitted by an aunt that loved us as her own children. As a child I always knew there would be the mittens and looked forward to see what color or colors she chose for us. Precious memories of the happy Christmas' of my childhood. I remember wearing these mittens out to play in the snow. When we came in we would put them on the kitchen radiator to dry. The smell of warm wet wool still lingers in my mind today.
As a young lady newly engaged to my future husband I got a gift from his grandparents. His step Grandmother always made a huge assortment of candies and everyone got a package of them. I was touched and happy that she gave them to me. It was her "seal of approval" for her grandsons future wife.
