We saw the wound clinic doctor today. I had a long talk with the nurse before I talked to him. She had a nice chat with him before she brought him in to talk to me. She knew just how stressed out I was, especially after seeing the surgeon.
Anyway, everybody agreed that the surgeon is a good doctor but he is doom and gloom. Dr. F. agrees that there probably is a blockage in dad's leg. IF there is it may be possible to take him to the cath lab and get it unplugged.
IF we can do that, the foot doctor may be able to scrape the infection from the bone. That is easier said than done. IF these two things can be done...then the chances of dad's wound healing are very good. It will give him the circulation he needs and help get the infection out of the bone. Then antibiotics and the peeps at the wound clinic can do their thing.
I wanted to avoid surgery but that looks like it's out of the question at this point. Even if the toe has to come off, if we can get the circulation going it will help prevent the foot or leg having to come off later. So, while it's not perfect news, it's still much better than what we were looking at a week ago.
I want to thank you guys for being here for me. It means a lot.
Moiraine, this sounds better than the previous reports we had received.
I wish you and your dad the best, and the prayers will continue.

Moiraine - I am glad that the news is not as gloom and doom as it was before. Hopefully, the procedures suggested will work and circulation will be restored. Even if it can't save the toe, it could save the rest of his foot and his lower leg. Prayers continuing for healing and comfort.
Carnival Breeze with Ray B and Aerogirl 5/4/14!
I am so praying that they can get the circulation returned to the foot. As you pointed out if they can do that then even if the toe eventually has to come off, it won't proceed beyond that and I'm praying that the toe doesn't have to come off if they can get the circulation back. That would certainly be the big Win-Win! Sounds as if you've found the right medical team.
Hope you have a joyous Christmas!
