Morning Mates, it's Saturday and I am so glad I don't have to go to work! I had a particularly trying week, and it left me feeling inadequate, discouraged, and ready for a change.
Anyway, it is the weekend now and I plan to enjoy it. Thinking I will stay indoors as it is chilly and windy, but nothing like the 100+kmh
winds that I thought would blow our house away last night! All the snow we got Friday was completely rained away, then dried up by the wind, and now everything is green again. Hard to believe it is January!
Tonight it's Trivia at the pub, always something to look forward to.
In the meantime, I will be working on Part 5...
What a way to start the day learning details of the Costa Concordia tragedy in the Med. (See the post that Todd started earlier.)
Snow is blowing here but the sun is shinning. temps are up from the 18 of yesterday to 24 already so we are seeing a warm up. We are off shortly for Cincinnati where a good friend is surprising his wife with a 50th birthday party. Will be going square dancing afterwards so it should be a fun day.
Everyone have a good day and prayers to all.
Morning from the Pacific Northwest.........rain here this morning.........that S word is in the forcast for the next week........hopefully it will stay north of us........
Sue...............just saw a short blip on the Costa on tv here.......how terrible..........
The morning started out cold ( 34F. ) but the sun is doing a good job of warming things up.
I'm very sad to hear about the Costa Concordia. With all the instruments they have aboard, it's hard to believe that such a tragedy could happen.

Good morning from chilly central Florida. It is just 50 at this time. Sending prayers for all involved in the Costa tragedy. Such a sad thing.

Looks like the powers that be at Costa are in big trouble: no life boat drill, way off course, and a crew that was incompetent during and emergency. I am sorry for those who died and their families and for those missing.
Only housework plans for today. Did the fun stuff yesterday. We went to a mall during the planned power outage. No power from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Not too terribly bad, but inconvenient, nevertheless.
It is a sad and alarming day in the cruise world. With the Costa Concordia tragedy. I find it sad that people lost their lives and the accounts of the panic on board and I find it alarming that a ship like this could sink due to this navigational error. I also find it alarming that this relatively new ship did not have better life boat dispersion systems in place. Even when the list was 20 degrees they could not deploy the life boats. There are systems in place on many vessels where life boats can be deployed even if the ship is listing 60 degrees.
This vessel is the sister ship of the Carnival Splendor and we know how electrical malfunctions caused that ship to become disabled in the middle of the Pacific. Note to self: Don't cruise on the Carnival Splendor.
The grandkids will be here later this afternoon. Their Dad is going to Ohio for 10 ten days on a business trip and my daughter is teaching a class so we have the kids today, Sunday and MLK Day on Monday. Betty is working today and Monday so Gimpy Grandpa is in charge. Let me practice: Oh darling granddaughter. Get Grandpa another beer from the fridge.
