Have you ever been assigned to a table of 6 or 8 other passengers on a cruise MDR ,all strangers and found after the cruise that you made at least one good friend ?

I have been with family all but one of my cruises so far, so we were all put together.
On my Honeymoon, they placed my Hubby and I with another young couple. I didn't like this at all. We had to make small talk with them and we had very little in common and there were no others to share in the conversation. They were also frequently late and ordered the same thing everynight... Steak and Fries...
For our cruise in September we are again with a "group", but I think we are alone for the time we chose. I hope we get a large table with lots of new faces to get to know!! That would be great!!

On our first cruise we were in our 20's .We were at a table of strangers ,all in their 60's .We had a marvelous time . However ,that was prior to Al Gore inbenting the Internet.
Henry, unfortunately we didn't have any luck with our assigned tables . We were on only three cruise's before the "Anytime Dining" option was offered, thank goodness. On two of the three cruise's we were seated with abusive husband's . It was very uncomfortable for everyone at the table.
Now when we go to "Anytime Dining" we ask for a large table or for a table for two, depending on our mood.

About 2 yrs ago on the Noordam we sat with a couple at dinner, and met another couple one morning at breakfast. As trivia players, we invited them both to join our team and we made the best darn trivia team on the ship!
We also had a lot of fun together, all 6 of us, and it was one of our more memorable cruises!
In over 35 cruises, mostly solo, at least 85% have resulted in keeping in contact with someone. Many of these people have become friends forever and we cruise often together.
I'm very fortunate with any table of 6 or 8 - wonderful new people on every cruise!
Many times I was seated with others at our table and really enjoyed the experience. When I travel solo I ask for "Your Time Dining. I have usually had interesting and fun table mates.
