I just heard this sad news . I met Whitney in 1988 .I was in her home to listen to her sing .She was a wonderful woman . In my opinion one of the 5 best female singers of all time .

Personally I’m kind of tired of hearing about. Please don’t get me wrong, It’s a sad shame that she went down the path she did and it ended where it did but the media really needs to stop. What about all of our US service men and women that are dying or some poor victim who falls prey to violence? I probably sound like a jerk but enough is enough already. It was still the top story on the news today!

The Governor of NJ decreed today that on saturday all flags on government buildings are to be flown at half staff . This is becoming a major controversy in the state .The Newark Star Ledger has come out against this .

Yes ,I am very serious .Chris Christy ,Governor of New Jersey who will very likely be the running mate of Willard Romney should Romney be the republican presidential candidate ordered that the flags on all government office buildings be flown at half staff on Saturday to honor Whitney Houston whom he described as a cultural icon .

Those who are opposed state that this should only be done for fallen military and members of the police and fire departments .

A friend of mine who is a retired Chief Of Police in New Jersey and perhaps the greatest fan of Whitney Houston that I have known is vehemently against this .

It was on Fox Radio and a local talk radio station today. People were talking about it and I listened when I came back from PT. A few months ago, when Clarence Clemmons died, the flags of New Jersey were also flown at half staff.

In 1989 one of my closest friends from high school died from a combination of drugs and alcohol .While he was not the icon that Whitney Houston was he too was in show business and very few people were not familiar with his name .

Shortly after his death there were numerous reports suggesting that he was murdered .

Henry, I sure hope so. You learn as soon as you go into rehab that you cannot take drugs again once you are clean.

On the pill bottle found with her says Don't use with other drugs, including booze.

She was heard telling someone the night before, that she wanted to see Jesus soon.

Clive Davis helped to get her house payments caught up, because she was about to go into foreclosure. In 2001 she was given 100 million for 6 future movies, and all that money was gone.

Oh Henry, I hope it was accidental, but .....

My heart goes out to her mom. I know what she is feeling right now. You want to be with your baby, so bad. You want to wake up, and find out it was all a bad dream. You blame yourself. You wonder what you could have done.

No matter what it turns out to be, she's gone, and that is just so sad.

If reports on the internet are true, her daughter has also been into drugs. We all need to pray for them.

I don’t believe she killed herself intentionally nor was she murdered, I believe the coroner was unable to call it an accidental drowning until they had the toxicology report proving she had enough drugs in her to cause herself to drown. I think it’s about time for doctors tostop giving out ***** and other benzo’s like candy. I feel bad for her daughter and the rest of her loved ones for having to watch her slowly destroy herself over the years.

Also same on NJ for hanging the flag at half staff, she doesn’t deserve that honor!

Its not really whether or not she deserves that honor or not . In my town ,pop.25,000 the ONLY time flags are flown half staff are for fallen police officers and fire personnel .

Since Mike mentioned that in NJ they did the same for Clarence Cleamons I would have to assume that they do this for every entertainer .

I heard Christie speak, and what he said made sense. I was not aware of her contributions to the city, and state.

I know she lived else where, and was not aware that NJ was any more than her home state.
