Default Security..

Struck me the other day...you could show up at the ship, hand your luggage over to be loaded onboard & not get on the ship, now if this was a plane they would offload it, so it makes me wonder.....

Just be thankful for the invention of the x-ray machine, the chemical sensors in them, and the training of the operators and sniffer dogs.

Not everywhere. There isn't positive bag matching on most domestic flights in the United States. If you miss a flight, your bags will continue without you. As another poster pointed out, this isn't a security issue, as luggage is scanned for explosives.

I don't agree, I think they could find a way round it & I know someone who was employed to handle bags at our local port, which as I remember included looking at X-rays...he got virtually no training. I do realise they x-ray & scan.
