Default Hope this Saturday finds our Cruisemates safe

I've been inordinately concerned all night about so many of our Cruisemates following yesterday's and last nights record breaking number of tornadoes across the midsection and Southeastern United States yesterday.

Although originally scheduled to be hit hard last evening, it now appears that we here in this section of upper East Tennessee dodged a major hit from the disastrous tornadoes that devastated so much of the central and eastern United States yesterday. We paid a steep price here locally last year for the first time in local history and were supposed to be hit again last evening but thankfully that never apparently occurred.

I'm sure that you join with me when I say our collective hearts go out to all of those who lived in so many hard hit areas. Today's dawn will I'm sure reveal still more tragedies.

I've been especially worried about Moiraine in Arkansas, Sue and Homer in Ohio, Beenie Weenie and so many other of our Cruisemate family in Indiana, Illinois and Kentuckythat I am asking that if you lived in areas hit yesterday that you please report in and let us all know you're alright.

Thanks and God Bless all of you!

I was also thinking of those in the line of the storms.

Todd, I join you in my concern for our CruiseMates in the path of yesterday's destruction...as I watched the news last night, I couldn't help thinking of you Todd, Beenie Weenie, and so many others. So glad you escaped it Todd, but I hope the others will check in too...

As for me, I suffered an emotional destruction yesterday, when the vet called to apologetically tell us that what she removed from Emma's mouth was a significant malignant melanoma, and that she has only months to live...
Due to the location of the cancer (in her upper jaw), surgery and radiation are risky, not to mention expensive, and only available in the eastern U.S., so basically she is coming home to spend her last days with us, with as much love and care as we can give her.
Needless to say, we are devastated.
I wanted to share this photo with you to demonstrate what a kind, gentle, loving soul she has always been.
This was Emma, kissing our then 4 yr old granddaughter after Nhaya had dressed her up in blankets.

Saw the tornado's on the news & I did wonder about any Cruisemates in the path of these things..unimaginable to me, we get virtually nothing like this here.
Best wishes to all.

We too, have been worried about those in the path of the devastating storms, and hope that everyone is O.K.
Donna, I don't know what to say! Take good care of Emma, and enjoy her, and who knows,,,miracles do indeed happen. In any case, our thoughts, and prayers go out to you, and her, and once again, if we can do anything to help,,,please let us know.

Oh Donna... So sorry to hear about Emma! I have lost two of my furry family over this past month and I know how hard it is.

I have had Goldens my entire life and they truly are one of the best dogs out there! I picked my last one out when he was 4 weeks old and he passed away from heart failure last month. He was the best dog I have ever had and even though he was living with my mom since I moved out after school, I took a bereavement day the night he passed I was so upset.

Just a couple weeks after I lost my Golden, my furry brother in-law didn't make it through his surgery to remove a tumor on his eye. My mother in-law can't even talk about him without tearing up several weeks later. These are our family, I know!!

After he passed, my husband and I bought her a new puppy to help her heart heal, and it really has helped!! I hope your time left with Emma is very special and that you find a new friend to spend your time with!!

I really am verry sorry!

Good morning all.
I have been wondering how everyone was doing with the storms too. Hopefully everyone will check in. In the meantime prayers going out for all of you.

Donna, my heart is heavy for you too. I was glad to read your report on FB that Emma was enjoying the snow today and feeling better.

I am feeling better today, and after running a few errands we hope to take Kelly and Dave to visit the Morakami Gardens. It's a beautiful landscaped area with miles of walking trails and ponds and bridges and an occasional siting of what Jake calls the 6 foot Iguana.

Have a fun weekend and take care.
Phyll

Donna and James,

Needless to say, my heart is broken over Emma's condition. We've shared so many pictures and stories privately and publicly that I feel as if Emma is one of my own family.

It's so very hard. I was stunned when Winston, Fran's favorite, went into convulsions and died before my and Adelaide's eyes wihin a week of Fran's death.

I know you'll provide all of the love imaginable, not to mention tender care, to Emma. Goldens along with Shepherds are my favorites and to be honest, the reason we went with felines is because they generally live far longer than do many breeds of dogs and we just couldn't take the frequent losses. Having said that, there is absolutely nothing like a loving lick from Emma.

Bless you all!

Todd, Thank you for your concern so wanted to check in to let you know that we are fine and survived the storm with only a few limbs down. It sure got nasty for a time here with the wind & rain. A little town about 8 miles from us got hit pretty hard. The storm took out the volunter fire dept. building along with the 2 trucks inside. Many homes have damage and a couple of older buildings which were no longer occupied are now rubble. We were very lucky. We are watching the local news as West Liberty, Ky was hit pretty hard. We used to go down there 3 or 4 times a year for square dances. We are praying those we know are ok. Also praying for all those who were less fortunate than us with the storms.
Donna, I am so sorry to hear about Emma. I loved the picture you posted. Our pets are our family and it is hard to let them go. I will be praying for you
Thanks to all for the prayers during last nights storms.

Good to see so many are ok in spite of all the storms.

Donna, my heart hurts for you. I am sure Emma will appreciate all the love you will give her and she will always be in your heart. Enjoy her while you can.

The yard is nice and cleaned up thanks to my mowers. My nice neighbor man pointed out that I have a dead pine tree on my property which he very generously offered to cut down for me so that it does not fall down into my home. I had not even noticed it!! I am getting so blind in my old age!

I am mentally preparing for my upcoming surgery and my friend (who gets easily seasick) is coming to take care of me for a few weeks post surgery. I informed her that she was coming with me on the December Carnival cruise I booked as a reward for recovering from this tough surgery. She is thrilled and swears she doesn't get as seasick as I have seen her get..ha ha ha I am coming prepared with some OTC seasick medicine and probably a few other good remedies. I want to be sure she enjoys it.

I'm off to enjoy the day. Have a great weekend everyone!!

Donna, I'm so sorry to hear about Emma . She's been a wonderful companion for you all. She's very blessed to have you and your family as her "people", who know what to do and when.

Prayers,
