James McCartney and sons of the 3 other Beatles are forming a music group to be known as The New Beatles .

Do you think this is a good idea or do you prefer your Beatle memories ?

It's not a done deal yet; James McCartney would LIKE to do this, not all the others are on board yet, however....NOTHING will ever compare to the REAL Beatles, those memories are intact for all of us.
Having said that, it might be interesting to see what 4 younger generation guys come up with, IF it comes to pass....

Julian Lennon is an accomplished musician, spitting image of John to, we used to see him a bit in Barbados a few years ago, doubt he would remember us now...

One of the bands I used to be in was a beatles tribute band....that would make me ringo!

I don't blame them for wanting to, the money is there...plus it is fun music to play!

John,

The news release I saw was with Sean instead of Julian. Not sure which would be involved.

I think a better name than "The New Beatles" would be "The Larvae".

Always remember these words of wisdom: "When I get to the bottom I go back to the top of the slide."

Take care,
Mike

I never saw the Beatles but I did see Mitch Weissman who is considered to be the best Paul McCartney aside from James Paul McCartney.

I agree with you, but the younger generation probably does not.

I know I'll be labeled a Heretic but truth be told, I never like the Beatles's music. I'm sorry but I couldn't stand it. And I'm a fan of that era of Rock 'n Roll, too.

BTW, the "Painter of Light," Thomas Kincaide whom regular artists (meaning those whom you can't for the life of you figure out unless they explain their painting to you), died yesterday at 54 leaving a wife and four daughters. I for one love his work regardless of what the "art experts" say.

I just heard that Todd, so sorry to hear it,. I have loved Thomas Kinkaid for many years, and my house is full of jigsaws of his that I have made. Beautiful painter!

As for the Beatles, there will NEVER be anyone like them again, I don't care how hard they try, and as for seeing them live....my hubby used to spend his Fri. and Sat., nites as a teen going from his home in Chester, to Liverpool to the Cavern club to see the Beatles, among others.
He took me there years ago just so I could say "I've been there"!

Here's a link, with photos, of the "next generation" and their uncanny resemblance to their famous fathers:

icLiverpool - Fab Four mark two

However, it is Sean Lennon, not Julian Lennon who is tentatively onboard for this musical project, and Jason Starkey, not Zack Starkey.

Henry, the Beatles undoubtedly had a tremendous influence on music however probably the first big Rock 'N Roll band was the late Bill Haley and the Comets (who are, by the way, coming to our town). I consider his number, "Rock Around The Clock" as the first of the real rock 'n roll songs.

The first documented Rock and Roll song is Rocket 88 by Jackie Brenston in 1951.

The Beatles had 4 components each of who did well on their own .No other major group can attest to that .
