Default I'm afraid of heights

I don't like heights. My job is to stand on the ground and take the pictures!

Who can guess where I took this one, of my wife standing on the platform high up in the treetops? The walkway actually cantilevers out over the river too.

Not for me.

Ah, a good guess.

But on the wrong side of the equator!

I was frankly amazed. I said "I didn't know that ____ ___________ even HAD fjords!" But it turns out that Fjordlands National Park is a big attraction for cruise ships down there. It is famous for its dolphins.

Put that together with the tall tall trees and maybe you will get closer ... :-D

Talking New Zealand -- gum trees and fjords

Ah, Henry, your friend is exactly right!

The cantilevered platform is over 40 feet high up in the gum trees, or eucalyptus. The fjords amazed me. They are truly beautiful and have a special species of dolphin that we could see jumping around the ship. Just goes to show that fjords are not restricted to Alaska or Scandanavia. One of the nice things about traveling is that it broadens the mind.

You can check out the whole trip around Australia and New Zealand here

Heights never bothered me as did close quarters (claustrophobia). My, how things change as one gets older.

Fifteen years ago I rode a Ferris Wheel (the old fashioned kind) with my granddaughter. I LOVED the Ferris Wheel. But when we got to the top (not as the machine was actually going but while loading passengers) I almost had a panic attack. This was one of the few rides that I absolutely loved as a child!

Then they went years ago to take an MRI (the olde unopened variety). They told me to close my eyes and listen to the music and I'd be fine. Well, close, even very close quarters had never been a problem so I figured, "What the hell, nothing to it."

I opened my eyes in the beginning of the exam and stated (in a command tone of voice), "Get me outta' here, NOW! The tech said to calm down, I'd be fine. I said to him either he get me out of this machine right now or I'll do it and the pieces will be lying all over the floor. Needless to say, he removed me.

Gosh, how things change as you age!

To relate how unusual such behavior is; point a firearm at me if I'm armed and the chances are outstanding you'll be history, even if a gun fight occurs and I'm killed. But put me on a Ferriis Wheel or the old type MRI machine and I'm Caspar J. Milquetoast!!!

Go figure!

I'm really afraid of heights too...
Every time I'm standing on the roof of my trying to look down and fight my fear I fail and run away... It's really a terrible feeling to experience...

But in fairness I did say "This fjord was on the same TRIP ..." :-D
