We returned on Sunday from a seven day cruise on Carnival Magic from Galveston. The ship was much too crowded, the music was too loud, and the singers and dancers were below par. Otherwise it was a great cruise. Our other 11 Carnival cruises were much better. On the other hand, the food was excellent, particularly steaks, and we met many wonderful people on the cruise. That was too be expected, since most were from Texas.
Paul..don't book the Allure or Oasis..you will have an oy!
I did not find those ships crowded at all. And the entertainment was very good.

Manuel, I was simply referring to the size....If Paul thought the Magic was crowded, I would bet dollars to donuts, he would think these 2 big ladies, are not his cup of tea.... I never thought the Magic was crowded, but, sailed her in Europe, and that makes a difference, in my mind.

The loud music on my last three Carnival cruises has been my biggest complaint. They have definitely "Cranked up the volume." I don't mind loud music on the pool deck to get people in the mood but you should be able to speak to the person next to you.
Take care,
Mike

Call me an "old fogie" but I too say the music was too loud on my last Carnival cruise..I mean I felt I would have some hearing damage if I hung around a certain pool too long..So I didn't!
Paul, we were on the same cruise and the one before. I agree that the music all over the ship is too loud (and we're both hearing impaired)! We didn't go to any show's so I can't comment on that aspect, but "crowded" is definately the opperative word! We've decided that we won't sail a ship this size again unless it's for a very special occasion.
We also found the Dining Room food to be good. We didn't eat in any of the pay restaurants. We did order Room Service a couple of nights and weren't really happy with the food. It was just okay, not up to what I remember.

I just want to say...the music can NEVER be too loud!
For many of us it can be too loud and often it is.

I totally understand the noise level. I'm a huge Princess fan, but the Movies Under the Stars aren't always "under the stars".
All day, every day, the big screen is blaring some concert or other and, whilst I love Tina Turner, Billy Joel, etc., I also enjoy some quiet time around a pool on a sunny afternoon.
It got so bad that I once started doing some synchronized swimming to Michael Jackson's "Billy Jean" - it wasn't pretty.
Love your replies! I actually was a synchronized swimmer, and a national champion in the sport, when it was fairly new. People constantly make fun of sync. swimmers, but it IS a difficult and demanding sport, with intricate scoring like in diving and figure skating.
BUT, as we all know, age plays a trick on the body, but even with a fake knee and hip, I could still do some "moves" - not in a thong or bikini - now THAT would have been ugly!
For many of us it can be too loud and often it is.

I agree. After our last few cruises, all on Carnival I have made the comment on the comment card and on John Heald's Facebook page about the loudness of the music. It is true you can't hear what the person next to you is saying. I have tinnitus and the loud music makes both hearing worse and the tinnitus worse.
The only thing I think that can be done is for everyone who feels the music is too loud is to complain to Carnival.
