Tuesday Morning

Morning Mates, not a good one unfortunately, a typical Nova Scotia June day - wet and COLD!
Rain in the forecast all day, another inside play day at work...

I am off to aquafitness this morning, the only hour in the day that I don't hurt. I have been suffering with bursitis in my hip and plantar fascitis in one foot and I am tired of being in pain. Yesterday I booked another cortisone shot, and I go early Fri. morning. Nothing like a cortisone shot for your birthday! :p

Good morning everyone.

Donna, I'm sorry to hear you are still hurting. Perhaps you should consider becoming Kuki's neighbor in Arizona. The warm weather may do wonders. Either that or you could just become aquatic. I do hope you feel better.

For me the only issue is that I can't get much past that 1 mile mark on walking before the knee swells. It is stronger and there is no real "pain" but the swelling and stiffness makes it hard to walk. I'm making an appointment with another orthopedic to see if they have any ideas. I should be doing better and I need to be able to walk more than a mile for Europe.

Today the head guy of the flooring company shows up to tell me that I'll get a new kitchen floor. At least that's what he better tell me or there will be "a discussion." I'm quite irritated with the issues I'm having. They probably can fix all the individual problems but I know more will occur over time and I don't need problems with something so simple. We'll see.

Otherwise an oil change for the Suburban and a trip to Costco are on the agenda. Betty is counting down the days to retirement so she won't have to "get up early" to lug my butt around. I don't know if she'll be able to change her internal clock and go to bed before 2:00 a.m. And we only have 20 days until we get off the plane in Barcelona!!!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Tuesday and a great rest of the week.

Take care,
Mike

Good morning Donna, and all those to follow. Donna you could have written my post for me. I to have been hurting, but I spent 3 1/2 hours working out in the pool yesterday. Jim checked me for gills, and thankfully didn't find any, yet.:D

It is far from being cold or rainy here. We are well into summer. Humid, hot, dry. They keep teasing us with rain chances, but I am watering anyway.

Jim went with me last night, and says he enjoyed working out. He also didn't realize how much we worked out. For two hours we do not stop.

Came home last night, and took another shower, and went straight to bed. By 4:00 this morning, I was wide awake. Boy this will soon catch up with me, and then boom.:D

I hope all of you have a good day.

Hi Kids,
Donna, I knew our rain would catch up with you. We are showery, and chilly till Friday. Saturday, is my youngest grandson's B day party, and finally we will have a warm day!

With half a kitchen wallpapered, we discovered the 2 latest rolls were not the same run. The company sent the wrong ones, my place, order it correclty, and of course my run is out...so, they are sending me two new rolls to match the new run, but what do I do now...strip half the kitchen, or puzzle it all out......oy They gave me a $50.00 gc, for the grief...I wanted this all doen before Bruce went in the hospital, so, my time is running out....grrrr

Ok, Lucy is a comin, and I need somneting to eat.:)

Make it a good one.

Good morning since I've been lurking this thread for ages. Thought I'd jump back in.

Since it's common knowledge that my intellectual capabilities along with my memory is severely limited, allow me the first to wish you a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY tomorrow, Donna!

Was really P'd off yesterday when I got three quarters of the lawn done and something went with either the blades, shaft or something not involving the engine thank Heaven. My neighbor shot right over and finished it for me. As I've declined physically they have really jumped in like troopers to help me out. I got them both gift cards which they didn't want to accept but I told them at least take them for my own psyche. I feel so obligated as it is.

My two cleaning girls that I've publicly named "Hot Chicks Home Cleaning" treat me like gold and I haven't the foggiest as to why. If anything, the house is even cleaner than when Fran was alive. They don't just clean and vaccum under furniture, they move the furniture! A neighbor told me that when they did the sunroom (I wasn't here), they moved every single piece of furniture including removing the books from two four shelve book cases plus moving the mantle(!) all onto the outside lawn!!! They also took down all the wall hangings.

I'm hearing from those of their other clients whom I know that I'm all they talk about and how much they love me. The only reason I can fathom is I'm rarely here but I make sure they have the makings for lunch (sandwiches, salads, etc.), something I've (as did Fran) always done for anyone working in my home at meal time.

Talk about small world, the fellow who delivers my O2 tanks came yesterday from Jefferson City (about thirty miles South of here and was looking at my new (well to me anyway as it's an '08) Mazda CX-7. When I told him where I bought it in Clinton he swore it was his boss's former vehicle! He said there wasn't a thing wrong with it and the only reason he traded it was that his wife already drove an SUV and he wanted a pick-up truck. So maybe I really lucked up and didn't inherit someone else's problem after all.

I'm taking all four cats to the Vet for a "buzz cut" to keep down the cat hair most of which is coming from believe it or not, my only short haired cat, Weaver. He is at least 19 years old, eats like a horse but doesn't weigh anything and appears to be starving. So I'm going to have him evaluated. If he's not in any pain (and he doesn't appear to be) and although it would kill me to find him when the time comes, I want him to die at home and with his family whenever he does cross The Rainbow Bridge.

Speaking of cats,I assembled one of two of those automatic litterboxes that are self cleaning. Lo and behold it works beautifully. there's never any odor and the litter itself is always clean. All you need to do is to use a good quality clumping litter. The cat goes in, does its duty and ten minutes after he steps out a rake automatically runs from front to back pushing the dirty waste in a lided container on which the door drops back down when the rake returns through the litter to the rear of the machine. It and another I'm putting together today are gifts from Fran's niece in New York, Adelaide, and I'm going to buy at least one, possibly two more myself, possibly another one for out here in the sun room and one for Felix in the back bedroom which, because of his temperament for his siblings, I call "Bin Laden's Death House."

Am truly sorry to learn of your problems Mike and Donna. As for you Mike, I just can't help but think your issue might be because you're pushing yourself too much too quickly. We don't heal as quickly as we get older, something of which I've much more than just discovered over the past six months.

Hope everyone has a marvelous Tuesday.

Mike: Get a scooter like I have. I cannot walk more than 100 feet. That is due to my age. So for you go to the scooter store and they will sell you one for about $700. If you are on Medicare then its free. All you need is a doctor's prescription.

I am taking my scooter every where I go. It comes apart and fits in a car trunk.

Guys:

Don't worry about it. I'm far from needing a scooter and the problems aren't that bad. Heck, they are pretty minimal compared to what they were. I actually have little to complain about. The swelling is more of a "inconvenience" and a nuisance than a problem. The swelling goes down in about 1/2 hour and I'm fine. Actually, the problem is probably because I haven't been working the knee hard enough. I still have the "wiring" around the knee cap and that can definitely be a culprit in my problem. I won't be able to get that taken out before the Europe trip but will have it removed when I get back. I haven't been doing the weight training I should be and my exercises are walking and yard work. I still do the PT regimen I was given but it is way too easy to do now.

It's going to be a while before I need a scooter because of the knee. Ray: I'm actually walking a lot better than the last time you saw me.

I just got off the phone with an ortho that was recommended by a friend. I will see him next Monday. There probably isn't nothing he can do at this time but I just want to make sure I'm OK for the time we're in Europe.

Take care,
Mike

Tuesday Morning

Good morning. A nice marine layer came in last night and is keeping things nice and cool.

Donna and Mike, I am sorry to hear about your physical problems. I'm having "knee aches," but the doctor says it'll take six to eight weeks to heal, partly because of the diabetes. He also says to stay off the leg, a real challenge.

Today is the CA primary election. We'll vote and then go to Pasadena for Keith's pre-op exam in deliver paperwork.

Have a good day.

Judy

A cousin of mine was on the ballot in the June 2010 primary to represent District 64 .He lost by 10,000 votes and that ended his political career .

Hello from chilly Toledo Oh!

I haven't been on here in a bit, work has been busy and my "down time", even busier!! My new assistant started yesterday so I am looking forward to having some more "me" time!!!

Toledo finally got their new casino...went and checked it out with my best guy friend last Saturday. Wow is it beautiful!!!! Ironically we knew the band playing (my friend also plays the drums) and were asked to go join in for a song. There were thousands of people there (not even kidding) and I had no "liquid courage" in me, so itdidn't happen...lol.

Sending good thoughts to all of you on here!! Hope all is well!

Good evening from a hot, humid south Texas!!

I've been very busy with docs appts the past two days and running errands. I met my new surgeon who turned out to be the nicest young man!! I was pretty surprised considering he got 13 poor ratings online for "bedside manner." Maybe he read his ratings and changed his tune! LOL Anyway, hernia surgery scheduled for later this month. I have a Dallas friend coming down to help me after surgery so that I don't over-do it again and give myself ANOTHER hernia.. CT scan revealed that my back is shot with degenerative disk disease and endplate bone spurs (I knew I had a crummy back so this wasn't huge news to me). Only the bone spurs were a surprise.

Meanwhile, I came home to let the pit bull out that I'm taking care of..She immediately broke off the leash she was attached to. Meanwhile, I was sitting in the house trying to rest for a moment and cool off after a long day (not knowing she was free to roam). Luckily, she wanted inside for some A/C and started barking at the back door for me to let her in. She chose not to roam!! *Whew* She is not a threat (except to an intruder - she'd eat one). However, she scares the crap out of my neighbors.

I've been shopping around for cruise-wear..I really need a new dress for the MDR.

Hope everyone is enjoying their evening!!
