Default God Save The Queen

Has anyone been watching any of the Diamond Jubilee? Iíve seen some of it and thought it was pretty nice; Iím a sucker for all that royal tradition!

I was at the gym this morning and everyone was watching it on TV .One of the interesting things to me was the interview with James Blunt .

The closest we have here to British royalty is that Sir Paul McCartney owns a summer home not too far away .

I've been practisiing that "royal wave" for years.... but so far no offers coming my way

I've watched a bit and have enjoyed what I have seen. While the Queen is really just a figurehead it is amazing how long she has been on the throne. I'm sure it will be a long time until it happens again.

As Tevya used to sing in "Fiddler On The Roof,", "Tradition!"

Although it has legions of people against it I am a huge supporter of the British Monarchy because it would be a huge loss were it to be dispersed. Everyone identifies with the Monarchy which is so historic for so long that today it is unparalleled.

Hi all, I have to say it has been a great experience for anyone in the uK and parts of the Commonwealth, with all sorts of local parties, celebratory beacon lightings, concerts, and displays taking place.

It was particulary nice to hear the Queen's post party speech in which she "expressed her deep appreciation and the humbling experience of seeing so many people joining in with the celebrations". Even during the events one could see that she was genuinely enjoying herself with smiles that, with every amount of training, could not be faked.

Also a job excellently done by the organisers, the only thing that we saw go wrong was that the Duke of Edinburgh aka Prince Philip aka "Philip the Greek" was taken into hospital with an infection, but the news is positive and we wish him a full and speedy recovery.

As part of the celebration, Cunard arranged for all their ships to be in Southampton at the same time, for the first time. We were lucky enough to be on one of the flotilla of boats that were on the water with the 3 Queens this evening as they set sail to a magnificent firework display, and as a bonus for us, even the British weather took a break and it stopped raining. Let's hope that the Queen herself doesn't decide to stop reigning any time soon.

And so it's back to work for all of us 'servants' - boohoo.

Wishing everyone a great week,

Alan & Katrina.

Did anyone notice how the Royal guard commander was trying to shout orders to the rifle company to do the salute but the crowd was so loud he wasnt heard. The music for God save the queen started then stopped. After the rifle salute the music started again.

The look on his face as he was shouting orders!!

Phil&Liz - Prince Philip & Queen Elizabeth ???

Sir and Ma'am, may I start by saying we are humbled to have you visit our cruise community

Luckily we have seen the National Anthem played like that before, it starts up, then breaks for (usually) a salute, then either continues or restarts, I just loved the way that the crowd carried on regardless and completed the first verse, it sounded more like a rock concert where the stars just turn the mic to the crowd & let them continue the song.

We were all left wondering, however, just how many times the Queen had heard the anthem over the past few days, and if she ever tires of it "Oh Philip dearest, could one put the other side on, it's Rule Britannia"

Alan.

Well I was named after a prince and a king ! And, it just so happens I married an Elizabeth!

So maybe the skip was intentional. It just seemed like the Commander was peturbed with all the noise.

The whole thing was quite moving to see.

To me, there is always a sense of grandeur, pomp, and tradition that I hope never dies.

Britain has been through some really tough times and the Queen pitched in and helped every time. Despite her faults and difficulties with Princess Diana, she is still a living emblem of the grandeur of the Commonwealth.

One question, though: Why do you suppose she always carries a "pocketbook" and what could possibly be in it?
