Default Neil Armstrong, RIP

I so remember the day watching on TV, the first man walk on the moon, what a memory. Was sad to hear this great astraunant has passed away.

What an accomplished human being he was. And to his great credit he didn't seek to cash in on his fame, instead vanishing into society as a college professor and later as a businessman. Pure mid-west American values.

I remember all three networks had 24/7 coverage of Apollo 11's mission. I got very little sleep. If there was some minor course adjustment they had planned at 3am I was up and watching the broadcast. I couldn't get enough of it.

It's hard to accept that the heroes of our youth are not indestructible. God Bless Neil Armstrong.

Although we're all going to die, this one hits especially hard. Dave really said it all and there's nothing more to add except my own,

God Bless You Neil Armstrong

I remember it very well. I was very close to the Launch Pad when he and the other 2 lifted off on their historic mission.

Rest in peace, Neil. We all took part in your moon landing in one way or another. Thanks!

SF Manager Herman Franks was asked by a reporter about pitcher Gaylord Perry as a hitter . Franks stated "Perry will hit a home run when we put a man on the moon ."

On July 20,1969 ,Gaylord Perry hit a home run

You know I visit a guitar player community with a lot of younger kids (born well after 1969) and it just blows my mind how many of them actually believe the whole moon landing was a hoax.

About once a month we have to talk somebody down from the ledge who saw some documentary and thinks the whole thing was a set up.

Of course, Buzz Aldrin had the best response to people like this...

I've met a lot of prominent people who believe the moon landing was a hoax .

In 2006 I toured the Johnson Space Center .I suggest that everyone should go there if the opportunity presents itself.

He was a nearby hometown hero. Wapakoneta is about 35 miles from where I live. I went to the museum there when I was in school.
