Default Would you leave a 10 wk old baby, to vacation?

Would you, could you? It's been a long hot summer, your newborn baby,is now 10 weeks old. You got a chance to take a vacation, not work related. Would you grab at the chance, or say no way?

I would not leave a 10 week old baby . We did once leave one of our children when she was 7 months old though .

No I would not! That's too young.

My wife is part of management for a daycare center and I know they take infants as young as 6 weeks, but of course that is just for the daytime hours Monday-Friday. To go off on a vacation for several days with zero contact with an infant during those first few weeks strikes me as being selfish on the part of this parent. Her comments about training the baby to be independent are ridiculous. A 10-week old child is incapable of comprehending independence. I agree with the one commentator - the mother posted the blog in some effort to assuage her guilt.

I would leave a ten week baby with whomever would take her; permanently. I am allergic to kids.

I did work with a guy who took a six month baby on a three week bicycle trip of Europe.

Absolutely no way would I think about leaving a 10 week old baby to go on vacation. It bothers me to even think about it and my kids are grown.
Not a very good decision on the part of the parent--wonder what this child will have in store down the road!!

I think it depends on your home situation. I would go, depending on the length. My parents were an integral part of my children's lives when they were young, and lived with me, so no change in the schedules or unfamiliar care would have been provided.

My wife nursed - no leaving 10 week old babies behind for us, she would have been in great physical pain as well as emotional pain.

That would have been our situation as well.

No, it's not. I expressed an opinion based on my then living conditions, not that I'd hire someone to babysit for time gone. I somehow survived my parent's child care skills. Why would I mistrust them caring for my children while they lived with me? Is a person never to entrust a child into someone elses care?

I too expressed my opinion based on what I read in your post. Why not take your baby with you?

I would question whether this person is worthy of custody of the child.

Enough of this bull crap I expressed an opinion based on MY situation....IF it had occurred 45 years ago!!!!! Read what I said, with the rationale I stated. Just because you perfect people take your kid with you does not necessarily make a good parent. Just read some of the boards about unruly kids. BYE

You were not the subject of my original reply. I was responding to the question asked.

Boss,

I don't think they are commenting on you but the original question. You are not quoted or referenced in the responses. Just because someone has a different opinion doesn't mean they are attacking you.

Me: I would be off like a prom dress. After nine months of putting up with a psychotic pregnant woman and then having to change diapers and clean up baby barf I'd need the vacation. I'd leave mom, baby and go PARTY.

ok; that was my evil twin who wrote that.

No: I'd wait until the kid was a bit older. They haven't even lost that "New Baby Smell" by 10 weeks.

Take care,
Mike

Excuse me? I fail to see why you are directing your rage in my direction. If you can't respond appropriately to opposing opinions, I suggest you stay away from chat boards.
