Hi all I have a cruise in 2013 with a balcony room and I was wondering. Where is the best place to set up my Weber BBQ. It's one of those Kettle style and I'm bring along some hickory wood so my steaks will have a nice smoky favor. I know the obivious place is on the balcony but I'm concerned it's not large enough for the balcony.
Maybe I should upgrade to one of those L shape balconies at the back of the ship. Any help would be appreciated. My hubby just makes the best BBQ porterhouses and the specialty restaurants are so expensive. BTW the bath tub isn't a opinion we are using that for our gin. I planned on hiding the pony keg of beer under my shirt and claiming I'm two weeks short of giving birth.

Depends on the side of the ship you are on. I'd put it downwind so the excess smoke will float to the other balconies so people can smell the scents too, yet not have too much going into the cabin and setting off the alarms

That is a very excellent point. So should I book a port or Starboard cabin?
Here another question if I fill the Jazzuci tub with wine then turn on the jets is it now champagne? Because I'm thinking of starting a bootleg bar out of my cabin and I was thinking champagne is classy then regular wine so I can charge more. See I use the smell of the steaks to sucker people over to my cabin then sell them my bootleg gin and champagne.

No, because Chateau Jacuzzi is not an official "appelation controlee," and as you know, the French are very picky about the use of the word Champagne. Plus there could possibly be an issue with the serving temperature.
As far as the grill is concerned, I think the only thing you have to worry about is keeping it well away from the portable nuclear reactor that you're taking along in case of a power failure. And, whatever you do, don't hang it off your balcony with those bungee cords you're bringing in your carry-on!

You are only allowed electric BBQs on the balconies, for fire hazard reasons.
You must bring your own very long extension cord, and plug it in on the debarcation pier (where they carefully meter your consumption, and bill it to your onboard account).
FYI: You are responsible for rolling it up when you are done.
In addition, bring along some fishing poles, and you can cast your lines off the side, to enjoy surf and turf...How lucky you are, and, I'm sure you will be the envy of your neighbors, who didn't think ahead like you!

Right I forgot about the damn French. Okay Sparkling wine then. As far as temperature goes I will wrap ice cubes in the Carnival Robe and a toss that into the tub to keep the Sparkling wine chilled.
Don't be silly of course I'm leaving the nuclear reactor at home. The Libyans refused to front me the Plutonium for the reactor. Since I'm cruising to Alaska so I'll be able to use a lightening rod attached to my Bungee cord on the balcony in order to harass the power of nature in the form of lightening.
Ship2shore extension cord really! I would be tripping over that thing the whole cruise.
Trip thank you for reminding me I almost forgot the fishing poles. I heard the salmon were running in Alaska. I bet they look funny in those tiny Nike sneakers.

Katlady, from reading your posts over time I know you are a VERY serious person. So Since you are planning on taking and using a BBQ grille I don't want to test the fire alarms. Tell us which ship you booked then I can book my Alaska cruise on another ship. LL

Kat - don't forget to bring the industrial size blender and the ice cream maker! Gotta have those frozen drinks and homemade ice cream on your balcony!

OldFartCruiser yes I'm always so very serious. But be honest you know you want to cruise with me and try one of my hubby's steaks.
Lisa that's a great idea. I think I can fit that in the overhead bin on the airplane. I need to buy one of those margaritaville margarita machines.
RayB if someone beleives this I kind of feel bad for them in general. I have a squirrel boucing on a toy in my signature line why would anyone take me serious. I was in a goofy mood when I wrote this. For the record my very first thread on this website was asking about wearing a tutu on formal night and people did take me serious.

katlady, you are right I definetly would like to taste katman's steak. But it would have to be on one of those cruises were firefighters get a discount.

First thing is they won't let have any open or enclosed heat sources on balcony . You could be asked to left the ship at the first port and make your own way home ($$$$$$) or be criminally charged as well.
